Three volumes of a spin-off of the regular series under the title Toradora Spin-off! ( とらドラ・スピンオフ! ?) were also created. The first volume of the spin-off series was released on May 10, 2007 and compiled four chapters, three of which had been serialized in MediaWorks' now-defunct light novel magazine Dengeki hp between June 10, 2006 and February 10, 2007, and the last chapter was written especially for the volume release. A single chapter of the spin-off series, originally published in February 2006 in Dengeki hp was included in the second volume of the regular novel series. More chapters started serialization in Dengeki hp's successor Dengeki Bunko Magazine on December 10, 2007. Additional chapters of the main series started serialization in the same magazine on April 10, 2008. The second volume of Toradora Spin-off! was released on January 10, 2009 followed by the third volume on April 10, 2010. The third volume was released to commemorate the year of the tiger (2010). Ryūji and Taiga hold a badminton contest to determine who will support the other side. After Ryūji wins, Taiga agrees to help him with a plan to get Minori closer to him by instilling her with fear. Ryūji, Taiga, Minori, Yūsaku and Ami travel by train to the beach house, where Ryūji cleans inside while the others hang out at the beach. Minori and Yūsaku go to the grocery store, while Ryūji and Taiga are each deceived by Ami when she runs the shower. The five of them later have spicy curry for dinner. Yūsaku gives Taiga some stomach medicine, and Ryūji helps Minori with the dishes. Ryūji talks with Minori, who compares the belief of ghosts with the concept of love and questions if both are real. Later, Ryūji finds strands of hair, and Taiga finds a dress, both covered with slimy seaweed on their beds. They become scared when they hear banging from the bedroom doors leading to the hallway and balcony. Ryuuji on the other hand, treated Taiga as his daughter because he would constantly cook for her, take care of her and just treat her as his child and not a love interest. Even though we like them as a pairing, Ryuuji and Taiga did not have a very healthy relationship, with Taiga demanding for Ryuuji to treat her equally, and Ryuuji demanding of Taiga to be more responsible, which is the result of his upbringing and his constantly-in-the-clouds mother. Ryūji Takasu, discontent about how his eyes make him look like an intimidating delinquent, prepares for the first day of his second year of high school. On the way to class, he bumps into Taiga Aisaka, a diminutive girl known for her fierce temper, who is in the same class as him by coincidence. After class, Taiga accidentally puts a love letter in Ryūji's bag, which was meant for Ryūji's best friend Yūsaku Kitamura instead. Taiga later comes to Ryūji's house that night to kill him for knowing about her secret, but Ryūji tells Taiga the envelope was empty. Ryūji reveals he has a love interest for his classmate Minori Kushieda, who is Taiga's best friend. To calm Taiga down, Ryūji tells her he will do anything to help her with Yūsaku. The next morning, Ryūji discovers Taiga lives in an apartment building next door to his house. When he visits her, he cleans the kitchen and serves her breakfast.

Toradora! began as a series of light novels written by Yuyuko Takemiya and drawn by Yasu. Ten novels were published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko imprint between March 10, 2006 and March 10, 2009. [1] [5] There are four additional chapters not collected into volumes; three of which appeared in three separate light novel anthologies released by MediaWorks in November 2006, March 2007, and November 2007, and the last chapter entitled Toratora! came with a plush tiger stuffed animal first released in April 2007. [6] A rumor is spread around the high school that anyone who touches Taiga will be granted one wish of happiness, much to Taiga's irritation. When pictures of the cultural festival are displayed for sale, Minori notices Ryūji buying a picture of them crossing the finish line holding hands, and she decides to buy it as a keepsake. Yuri Koigakubo, the homeroom teacher, compliments Ami as being mature and refined for noticing her wearing a cardigan from a model catalog. Ami hangs out with Maya and Nanako Kashii, who both say the same thing as well. However, after Ami bumps into Ryūji at a market, she declines his offer of some extra pork he bought, and she is surprised when he tells her that she behaves like a child. While Yūsaku contemplates after Sumire tells him something, Taiga runs into him and tries to comfort him. At night, Yasuko Takasu, Ryūji's mother, boasts that Taiga is now a part of the family. Ryūji, Ami, Minori and Yūsaku each wonder what they would wish for since they all had the chance of touching Taiga. The title Toradora comes from the names of the two main characters Taiga Aisaka and Ryūji Takasu. Taiga’s name is derived from the native Japanese word tora, literally “ tiger” in English language. The other part of the name Toradora is related to ryū which means dragon, and is synonymous with doragon which corresponds to the English word dragon, transcribed into Japanese. For this reason, the title Toradora encloses the two souls of the main characters which are bounded together by the supernatural force of love. For despite his inwardly sweet personality, his unintentionally sharp gaze and aggressive features give him the air of a delinquent thug, putting his chances at making new friends, let alone a girlfriend, next to zero. Ryuuji Takasu is a gentle high school student with a love for housework; but in contrast to his kind nature, he has an intimidating face that often gets him labeled as a delinquent. On the other hand is Taiga Aisaka, a small, doll-like student, who is anything but a cute and fragile girl. Equipped with a wooden katana and feisty personality, Taiga is known throughout the school as the "Palmtop Tiger."

[14]Kitamura is the man. At first you get the impression that he's the stereotypical "obvlivious anime male highschool student" but he has his own agenda, and it plays out in spectacular fashion. You have not seen a love confession until you’ve seen Kitamura. To be fair, his arc’s only purpose is to help make TaigaxRyuuji a thing, it also results in a fantastic sword fight, but he’s still pretty funny to watch. Animation quality is surprisingly decent, I watched it in 720p and its okay for a 2008 anime. Sure at times the detail may be low, but that is actually due to the style. The animation is rather fluid, which is surprising at times given the sudden changes in detail and quality to a lesser extent. Ryūji and Taiga (竜児と大河)". Tatsuyuki Nagai. Toradora!. TV Tokyo. 2008-10-09. No. 2. 1:59 minutes in. Perhaps by fate, the "delinquent" bumps into the also notorious "Palmtop Tiger". At first glance she is a cute little doll, but he finds out the hard way SHE's the one who should be feared and called a delinquent! Her name Aisaka Taiga.
