About this deal

Happily I note this is tagged Ben Harper #1, so more are planned and I assume they’ll involve both Ben and Dani. I’m keen in particular for more about Dani’s past – her police officer father and her partner, and the impact of the incident that derailed her career. Robert now lives in Putney and his new hometown served as the inspiration for the fictional town of Haddley in his thrillers. Who has done it and why? Somebody else must know that Demi used to be Abigail! Could it be the girl who was called Josie and if so how did she find her? Ominous at the beginning, breathless by the end ... this is excellent hardcore suspense -- LEE CHILD

Twelve Secrets by Robert Gold - Debbish Book review: Twelve Secrets by Robert Gold - Debbish

This debut novel from Robert Gold had me gripped from the start. A double murder followed by a suicide had me wondering what had happened and intrigued to know more. Absolutely addictive. An unforgettable and nuanced cast of characters, a claustrophobic setting, and a suspenseful and chilling examination of the dark and destructive power of secrets. You will sleep with your eyes open after reading this one. -- GILLY MACMILLAN What a tangled web! Brilliantly weaved and then carefully unravelled for the big revelations at the end. A totally gripping read. -- SUSAN LEWIS Publishing is a great industry to work in with lots of creative people, and with an ability to reach a huge number of readers in so many different ways. I have worked within Sales for much of my career and while I have always been very close to the publishing process it is a very different experience as an author. Ben is a sympathetic character, you can really feel his turmoil at having to relive the past. As the story develops we understand the devastation his family and friends went through 20 years previously. The unanswered questions following his mothers unexpected suicide have haunted Ben for 10 years.

What a tangled web! Brilliantly weaved and then carefully unravelled for the big revelations at the end. A totally gripping read." - Susan Lewis Ten years ago, Ben’s mother died, seemingly by committing suicide, but it is questionable if that was actually the case.

Twelve Secrets: The Sunday Times bestselling thriller Twelve Secrets: The Sunday Times bestselling thriller

A pacey thriller full of twists and turns. You won't be able to put TWELVE SECRETS down until the very end. -- KARIN SLAUGHTER I love an “old murder mystery hasn’t been fully solved” setup, and I loved that this was in London but not central London, so the location where everything happened had a village feel, and a real sense of community because of it. I believe the author has co-authored with James Patterson and this shows in the way you are drawn into all characters lives and also in the pace of the book. As you probably can tell I loved this book I love a good thriller and this was definitely that and I’m next in the queue for the next book by this fabulous author who had me on the edge of my seat throughout. So far three treasures have been found. One in Chicago, one in Cleveland, and one in Boston… so at least we know they are real. That’s about all we know for sure.Written in first person present, which normally puts me off, this thriller managed to keep me engaged through to the end. A really addictive psychological thriller that holds the attention throughout and has some excellent characters. Yes, this is an entertaining crime thriller. It speaks to the arrogance, entitlement, and hubris of the very wealthy who think other people are pawns in their own personal game. It also speaks to parenting, both by birth and by adoption. Ben Harper was engaging and sympathetic. As this is touted to be the first in a series featuring Ben Harper, I am confident that I will try to follow this series to its conclusion. After reading an interview with the author, I understand that PC Dani Cash will have more of a presence in the second novel in the series. – I am anxious to find out more about her character. I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel from Sphere (an imprint of Little, Brown UK) via NetGalley – at my request, for my own reading enjoyment and the writing of this review.
