About this deal

For as long as there has been Warhammer 40,000, there have been Genestealers. The original Tyranid bioform gets a much-deserved makeover with a new kit that reimagines their iconic look in glorious high detail. This time around, you get a full complement of Ymgarl Genestealer heads if the face-tentacle vibe is more your speed. Termagants The Biovore has a new spring in its step and is ready to launch Spore Mines all over your next battlefield. These indirect fire platforms have long been the Hive Mind’s answer to distant foes, and you can also build them as flame-spewing Pyrovores to turn long-range shooting into close-quarters dominance. The Hive Mind is Coming to Get You - Warhammer Community

The new edition of Warhammer 40,000 is rapidly incoming, and it’s an exciting time for fans of endless warfare in the 41st Millennium. Over the last few weeks, you’ve learned a bit about how Chapter Approved games offer matched play missions and different victory conditions in the new edition, so it’s time for the next of the flagship game modes – Combat Patrol.Termagaunts… 36! I love hordes and this is awesome… what a box! Of course you may not be so keen especially as a new player and here Contrast Paint is your friend. Have a play with some options and chose a paint scheme you are happy with. The Hive Tyrant can be equipped with a variety of grotesque bio-weapons for melee and ranged combat, allowing you to build a monster adapted to dealing with any foe. You can even build the kit as a Winged Hive Tyrant – or the fearsome Swarmlord. The multitudinous foot soldiers of the Tyranid swarm get some love, as the revitalised Termagants first seen in the Leviathan boxed set get a bonus sprue of special weapons. The box also includes a single Ripper Swarm. Hormagaunts Editor’s Note: As mentioned in the comments you would, indeed, need to put the two Hive Tyrants into two seperate detachments. Thankfully, the list has enough options you can really break up the units pretty much however you need to so that they will fit in two detachments.) To add to this boxed set, we’re going to add a few extra units that’ll give you something different to paint and expand your synapse.

The Combat Patrol is loaded with Tyranid models. 43 to be exact! And it’s mostly Core options, too. Mostly. To lead this new batch of baddies is the Hive Tyrant — who also happens to be on the new Tyranid Codex cover. To keep things balanced, the weapons options for the units have been fixed for all the Combat Patrol datasheets, so there’s no need to fret about your character and unit equipment prior to a game. You don’t need to worry about which guns to give your Chaos Space Marine Havocs, for example. This is our first of 3 HQ choices – perhaps overkill but we need the synapse – and he’s a close combat monster. This kit will allow you to assemble a Hive Tyrant, or a winged Hive Tyrant instead but with all the Termagaunts, who doesn’t want this hunk of awesome to lead them. Games Workshop via WahepediaGames Workshop showed off the launch box for Warhammer 40,000: 10th Edition. The Hive Mind hungers for the new Tyranid models! I use these for the ranged threat… so Venom Cannon and Deathspitters are my choice — but of course you can make your own choice if you prefer different load-outs. Games Workshop via Wahapedia

Writer, Editor, Texas Native, and Austinite for 15+ years, Adam covers all things Tabletop Gaming. Which includes Warhammer 40,000, Age of Sigmar, D&D, Board Games and everything else that involves dice, boards, cards and a table. Everything you need to play Combat Patrol – apart from the miniatures – will be available for free online when the new edition launches. Introducing a friend to the world of Warhammer 40,000 with the help of your collection has never been easier. You could even set up your own Combat Patrol event, or why not go wide and collect one Combat Patrol from every faction? On top of all that you’re also going to get your hands on 3 Tyranid Warriors. These medium-sized bugs are great for lots of things. They can provide some extra direction for your little guys and can be equipped for a variety of different roles. They really are quite utilitarian. The box also contains three Tyranid Warriors, perfect for helping the Hive Tyrant direct your Termagants toward their prey. Strong, swift, and among the Hive Mind’s most adaptable breeds – no invasion would be complete without these intelligent bioforms to anchor the swarm. We’re not going to go quite that hardcore yet. We are going to start with two boxes however. And we’re going to go ahead and make some swaps, too. I don’t normally say to do this either, but I’m actually going to spend some of that wargear budget upfront. I like Devourer Termagants, so the 36 we’re getting in the next box? Yeah, they are getting an upgrade. Oh and I wasn’t kidding about the Swarmlord. He’s in, too. Every self-respecting Hive Tyrant needs a swarm to command, and the Combat Patrol box provides you with a whopping 36 Termagants (plus three Ripper Swarms). Even the renowned tactician Roboute Guilliman has to concede that quantity has a quality all of its own. The Word Bearers trilogy by Anthony Reynolds follows the arch-traitor Space Marines as they navigate the 41st Millennium in search of ever-greater power, using every means at their disposal. Even the really, really gnarly ones. It’s time for the Tyranids to get another look at their Combat Patrol Box. You’re going to want to grab two and your codex. Let’s do this.

Today we’re looking at the Tyranid Combat Patrol box, continuing our series of 1,000 point start armies using the Combat Patrol boxes as our base. Every faction’s army rules will remain largely the same – Tyranids retain Shadow in the Warp and Synapse , for example – but each Combat Patrol features Enhancements unique to this game mode to let you tweak your WARLORD and try out new strategies. This is the definitive companion for all Tyranid players, replacing the Index with a fully fleshed-out collection of exciting Detachment rules, glorious miniature showcases, and fascinating lore. The core principle is simple – each Combat Patrol has been given a full set of self-contained rules that define it on the table. This includes datasheets, but also secondary objectives, faction rules, Enhancements, and Stratagems, all flavoured to match that force’s narrative – and balanced against every other Combat Patrol.*
