About this deal

From my practice in Limpsfield, Surrey, I treat women of all ages, specialising in problems related to the pelvic floor and pelvis; including urinary and faecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain, constipation, painful intercourse as well as aches and pains during and after pregnancy. Ir svarīgi runāt un rūpēties par mūsu mentālo labbūtību un fizisko veselību - tās iet roku rokā. Un ir svarīgi zināt, kur meklēt palīdzību, kad tā ir nepieciešama. While initially a raw and intimidating task, confronting fears is crucial in helping us to understand our traumas and problems as opposed to neglecting and letting them fester.

Understanding that our emotions and thoughts are merely just initial guesses from our brains in reaction to a particular situation (and therefore only ONE possible perspective), permits us the time to reflect and manage our responses more effectively.

Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before? Six things I learned from Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?

Dr. Smith's writing style is empathetic and compassionate, creating a safe space for readers to explore their emotions and vulnerabilities. The book not only provides practical tools but also promotes a deeper understanding of how our minds work. This knowledge enables readers to fortify their mental health proactively, making it an essential companion in the journey towards self-care.

I read this because I wanted to learn more about mental health in general and specifically anxiety. I liked Dr. Smith’s writing style because she’s realistic and she does not like to be overly positive. She even criticizes some of the common advice given in real life and social media which can be more harmful than helpful. It’s good, basic, helpful advice. Probably every reader will find several things that make a difference. I was impressed how often her discussions on each kind of life challenge involved some aspect of mindfulness. She talks very practically about mindfulness during real-time living, and has an impressively simple, basic way of describing what it is. I’m gonna go ahead and just quote her on mindfulness about thoughts: This book is like a mental health toolbox for anyone who concerns about mental health and well-being.

This book contains quite a bit of great advice for mental health, but most of it you will probably have heard before if you have gone to therapy groups that teaches techniques. If you are just starting out learning about these things this book will be great. Mindfulness is a great skill … for building that ability to … notice your thoughts and let them pass without getting caught up in them. … If you can notice a thought for what it is – a biased guess, and label it as such, then … that is one way of holding the thought at arm’s length. Your mind can then see it as just one possible perspective. We are then in a much better position to be able to consider the alternatives. …”Drawing on years of experience as a clinical psychologist, online sensation Dr Julie Smith shares all the skills you need to get through life's ups and downs.

Why Did No One Tell Me This? by Natalia Hailes | Hachette UK

Pregnancy and childbirth are full of big questions -- what if my baby is enormous? Will my water break naturally? What even goes into a 'birth plan'? How on earth am I going to keep this child alive once it's here? And where do I turn for advice that will really work for me and my life? This was a very useful and practical guide for mental health issues. I loved her short, to the point chapters with tools that were also summarized at the end. The tools fitted nicely to the themes, and I’m sure everyone will find tips that they can use to improve their well-being. The author also explains concepts in a way that is easy to grasp, and I kept thinking that I must use these explanations myself when talking with clients. She was also empathic and it shows how much she cares for others, genuinely wanting to help. The use of small self-revelation were also fitting, making the reader relate and believe in the tools presented.
