About this deal

I don’t know what ball you currently use but I’d say this ball is very similar to the Titleist Pro V1x. Both of them have 4 layers and a compression rating close to 100. I am a 71 year old recreational player who can break 90 from the senior tees on most average length par 72 courses. I do know my swing speed ,but it is probably under 90 mph. The longest club in my bag is a 3 hybrid which I will hit on average 175 to 190 yards ,but I can hit every fairway playing a slight fade off the tee.

Out Of Bounds Golf: Golf For The Average Golfer

If you’re shooting below 80: The best Wilson ball for you will be the Triad or Staff Model. What it really comes down to is your swing speed and how much short-game spin you need. Both balls are 2-piece construction with the emphasis on keeping the spin rate low for straighter shots off the tee. DistanceAs we’ve mentioned previously, it’s not uncommon to find layer concentricity issues with Foremost-made balls. In a two-piece model like the Wilson DUO Soft+, those will invariably manifest themselves at the cover layer. Featuring a soft, highly resilient polybutadiene core, the DUO Optix is designed to provide players with exceptional feel and straighter shots from tee to green. The life expectancy of a soft feel golf ball is approximately 36 holes before the scuffing makes it difficult to control. Overall, this is my favorite Wilson ball by far and is one that I’d absolutely add to my bag. It feels awesome off the tee, it stops pretty well on the greens, and it’s cheaper than its competitors. Generally, the Triad is best for swing speeds under 105 MPH (most people) while the Staff is for speeds over 105 MPH (mostly tour-level players). The Staff was way too firm for me but I really liked the way the Triad felt.

Durability is certainly an issue though. It turns out that there’s actually a very good reason why golf balls are painted! It has nothing to do with performance and everything to do with protecting the cover and keeping the ball looking as good as new for as long as possible. While the three mentioned above are the most popular and widely available, you are likely to come across some other varieties of Wilson Staff balls in golf shops. The Wilson Duo is suited to golfers that are still working on generating more speed with their driver while it still produces substantial distance. DUO Soft+ was engineered to give players the ideal blend of longer distances and exceptional feel. In our testing of DUO Soft+, the Wilson LABS team found that when using a driver, the initial velocity of the ball increased by two miles per hour. With our Velociticor™ technology, we are able to make our DUO lineup even longer while maintaining the soft feel the brand is known for.” This is Wilson’s premium model and is a ball for professional golfers and low handicappers. The 4 piece design and high compression rating make this a good ball for high swing speeds (at least 105+ MPH).There is a world of difference when it comes to performance of a low compression, two-piece ball like the DUO when compared to a higher compression, premium ball such as the ProV1 for example. Duo Soft+: This shot was hit pretty well but I started it a bit too far to the right so it just missed the green. I didn’t find the ball to be too soft and it actually ended up going a similar distance to the other two balls. Hole #3 (par 3)

We wanted to keep the same consistency and reliability that the DX-brand was renowned for in Europe, but add the new technology we have developed in the Wilson Innovation Centre in Chicago. Our research found when using a driver, the initial velocity of the new DUO Soft+ ball increased by two miles per hour. We then repeated the test using a 7-iron and the results were equally impressive, beating some of the more expensive premium balls on the market in distance. The DUO line of golf balls has been extremely popular with golfers across the USA for many years and now we can present the same brand message to golfers around the world.I did the same test from 30 yards out. I chipped the ball 15-20 yards and noticed that it ran out a bit more than the other two balls. It was maybe 5-8 yards more, which could have been just a coincidence, but it was pretty common with the testing I’ve done. What’s The Best Wilson Golf Ball For You? These golf balls are excellent for what they offer their target market and are both highly recommended. Callaway’s Supersoft with its Polybutadiene core offers a compression rating of 38 making it suitable for golfers of swing speeds below 95 mph.
