About this deal

You can re-roll charge rolls made for that unit. If you could already re-roll charge rolls made that unit (e.g. if it has the Instruments of the Emperor’s Wrath fighting style) add 1 to charge rolls made for that unit instead. As well as an Adeptus Custodes detachment, you can also build a pure Anathema Psykana Detachment. This doesn’t really provide anything special, but it does allow you to run a pure Sisters of Silence army if you want to, without the Emperor’s Legion restrictions discussed above. As a neat touch, you can bring Valerian along in one of these and still qualify. Army-wide Rules Martial Ka’tah At the end of the battle, the ADEPTUS CUSTODES unit from your army with the lowest number of experience points (if two or more are tied, select one of them) gains 1 experience point for each of the following: At the end of the battle, select one ADEPTUS CUSTODES unit from your army that has a Battle Scar. That unit gains 1 experience point for each of the following:

Where many amongst the Adeptus Custodes hold themselves remote and aloof from the lesser mortals around them, this warlord’s booming oratory and inspirational rhetoric are meant for the ears and hearts of all loyal Imperial servants. An auric weapon is any weapon from the list below, or any Relic that replaces such a weapon:Following a trend of alternatives to common objectives we have Stand Vigil, a sort of alternative Stranglehold. This scores at the end of the Battle Round and gives you three points if you control more Objectives than the opponent which are not in either player’s deployment zone. This does kind of hit the same “why not just take Stranglehold” problem, especially because of the timing, and the best use case we can come up with is for five-objective missions, where it allows you to focus on hitting the centre and one flank without worrying about the other. However, in those missions it’s usually disastrously bad news if your opponent has managed to steal your home objective, and if you have your home objective then you’d be scoring Stranglehold almost any time you’d be scoring this. The other upside it plausibly has is that it does motivate the opponent to come and try and turf you off mid-field objectives in preference to trying to circle round to your home objective, which can force them into the kind of game you want to play. Not sure how well that theory plays out, but maybe! What better way to really frustrate your (soon to be former) friends and opponents than by making your already incredibly resilient army even more difficult to kill? That’s quite a lot to take in, but such challenges are nothing to the Adeptus Custodes and their commanders.** They’ve been practising these combat forms for hundreds of years, if not thousands, and they’ve got rather good at them. The Dread Host is a great example of how all this works. They specialise in the Dacatarai Ka’tah, making them monsters against hordes.

Codex Adeptus Custodes: The Crusade Rules Review

Artefacts of the Vaults are rare Crusade Relics from ages past, kept in stasis deep within the vaults of the Imperial Palace. They cannot be selected as normal. Instead, if you have claimed Magisterium Lex Ultima, they can be brought forward and temporarily used by ADEPTUS CUSTODES CHARACTERS to turn the tide of key battles by using the Artefact of the Vaults Requisition. The Plate is better than ever, but a few other popular choices from 8th have paid a bit of a price so that it could soar – notably the routes to 3+ invulnerable saves. The Auric Aquilas is a relic jetbike that lets you re-roll charges (or gives +1 if you already can), and gives you a super move, letting you double the model’s move characteristic at the cost of being able to shoot or charge. This can be situationally good, but now that Bikers aren’t ObSec there’s far more limited utility in moving one a long way if they can’t do anything when they arrive. The Eagle’s Eye does keep some of the old magic – it’s been limited to Infantry but does still give you one phase of a 3+ invulnerable save per game, and an extra wound at baseline. Good on a Blade Champion you’re planning to hurl at your opponent, and really what other kind of Blade Champion is there? Each ADEPTUS CUSTODES model counts as one additional model when determining control of an objective marker. This is cumulative with any other rules that makes them count as additional models. Each time you upgrade a SHIELD-CAPTAIN model to a Captain Commander, select one of the appropriate Captain-Commander abilities below for that model to gain. Its Power Rating is increased by 1. If you are playing a matched play game, or a game that uses a points limit, then the points value of that model is also increased by the amount shown in the table below. Make a note on your army roster each time you upgrade a SHIELD-CAPTAIN model using these rules, including specifying the ability it has gained. Each SHIELD-CAPTAIN model from your army (or Crusade force) can only be upgraded once, and you cannot select a Captain-Commander ability for a SHIELD-CAPTAIN model if another SHIELD-CAPTAIN model from your army (or Crusade force) already has that Captain-Commander ability. My hot take in summary: there is a lot of fun to be had in this codex, but I wish the meta wasn’t in a state where I look at these Toughness 5 models with 2+ characteristics and say “Okay, but what makes them unique?” WingsLeading the charge into the Cult’s lair is Aristothes Carvellan, a Blade Champion whose prodigious swordsmanship puts even his fellow Custodes to shame. Blade Champions are a new type of Character for Adeptus Custodes armies, who can switch between three different fighting styles to chop up any opponent, be they a colossal monster, a skilled leader, or a swarm of lesser creatures. In addition to revamped Stratagems, Relics, and Warlord Traits, the codex contains Crusade rules for exercising ultimate authority over the Imperium, choosing your own objectives and earning powerful bonuses upon victory. Beware, however, as failure means suffering dishonour, which can call the command of your Shield-Captain into question. Their traits give them access to increased Armour Penetration and more chance to guarantee those vital charge moves. Once you select a stance of a different martial ka’tah, you cannot select a stance of a previous martial ka’tah.
