Notifications aren’t handled brilliantly by the Verge Lite. While messages are perfectly readable on the crisp AMOLED screen, they have a tendency to bunch up. If you’re out and about and receive a WhatsApp message, you may just glance at it on your wrist and continue with your day. But if you receive a second one from a different conversation, the watch will show the first until you’ve actively dismissed it. There’s also, at the time of writing, a bug that means your watch will keep buzzing with the phone call notification even after you answer your phone. It's also being powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2500 chipset, which we've yet to see in any other device, so we can't be certain of how powerful it's going to be, although it should deliver enough power for the Amazfit Verge 2 to monitor your workouts. The watch’s two-tone color scheme is fun, with both dark and light grey portions on the version we reviewed, with availability in white and navy blue as well. The screen is slightly recessed, which adds a bit of protection, and in our month with the watch, there are no signs of wear on either the body or the display - mightily impressive! The fun, light design of the Amazfit Verge is easily one of the most attractive features for wearers after something luxury in design yet light in nature. On the inside, it’s just as attractive as the watch features an OLED screen, dual-core processor, and five-day battery life.

The screen is a 1.3-inch 360x360 AMOLED panel. Plenty sharp and plenty colourful, it pops nicely with the default watch face elegantly mirroring the red accents of the watch body. The Amazfit Verge runs a proprietary OS, despite its capable hardware – dual core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB storage (1.9GB user available). Interacting with the Verge is a tale of swipes and taps, and the story is illustrated with some fun graphics that visualize the weather and other UI elements. A handful of watch faces can also be accessed with a long press of the main screen, there’s a simple to navigate settings menu and when paired with an Android smartphone using Bluetooth, it can even act as a phone call receiver/speaker combo too.
