About this deal

Ant and Dec are two lads from Newcastle, UK. They became friends while starring on a children’s TV evening programme called ‘Byker Grove’, and came to hold many ‘hats’, including as popstars and TV presenters of some of the most popular UK programmes.

Despite the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Ant and Dec were able to present the 2020 series of I'm A Celebrity from Gwrych Castle in North Wales! For the first time in many years, all we talked about were deep things like how we felt, and what the future held, and where we were, and all the chaos that has come along, especially for me," McPartlin told the magazine. In this chapter Ant and Dec talk about meeting various members of the British Royal Family at various moments in their career, and particularly HRH Prince Charles. Ant and Dec first met HRH Prince Charles in 2001, where they interviewed him about the 25th anniversary of ‘The Prince’s Trust’. Other memorable times Ant and Dec have met members of the British Royal Family are in 2006, 2015 (for The Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations), and in 2017 (when Ant and Dec received their OBEs). Please know, this rating gives me no pleasure. I'm an Ant and Dec fan through and through, and I believe that they are peerless in their field. That field is not writing an enlightening book regarding their 30 Years in TV. In 2012 Ant and Dec performed with Sir Bruce Forsyth at the NTAs (the National Television Awards in the UK). Both Ant and Dec were in awe of Sir Bruce Forsyth and dancing on stage with Sir Bruce Forsyth was one today the many highlights of Ant and Dec’s career in the last 30 years. I listened to this are a time that I was struggling mentally. It was the lift that I needed, it made me reminisce about the 90's and laugh so much.

Dec: but no less true. And after three decades together, we've written that book. Covering everything from a pirate radio storyline in Byker Grove through to the biggest shows on telly, this is our story. But it hasn't all been smooth sailing over the last 30 years and Dec admitted he wanted to "punch and hug" Ant when he heard he had been arrested for drink-driving in 2018. brilliant listen great how they bounce of each other and you get a little more from the audio book than hard copy THAT incident is mentioned - briefly and simply as the time Ant wasn't on TV. I certainly didn't expect gory details to be raked over, but it might have been interesting to hear more about how Dec had to pivot his entire career pretty much instantly to keep three of the nations biggest shows on air solo for the first time, especially in a book about your time on TV.

Check out Ant and Dec's complete career timeline:

This book was so much fun to listen to. With Ant and Dec narrating the audio book there really wasn't any other way I would read this to be honest. It just added a depth of sincerity, fun and what comes through both in the words spoken and in the way they are spoken that there is such a great friendship there.

Watching” them grow up through this memoir as well as listen to their lives ups and downs anyone can relate to. The pair then released the single “Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble” under their character names PJ & Duncan before settling on a career in TV presenting. After being out for lunch yesterday, I was feeling shattered (I have ME and Fibromyalgia) so today I decide to spend the day in bed with Ant & Dec. This book is about the shows that they have worked on SMTV, pop idol, BGT, I’m a celeb and their pop career. This audiobook is just brilliant, the PDF photo book to accompany the storytelling is a wonderful touch and the nice surprising at the end of them reading this superbly written book is what really made me laugh. Listening to Once Upon A Tyne makes you feel the lads are really just chatting to you and you only, telling you about their life and times of grown up together in the entertainment industry, I think mainly because they are not just read their book they actually speak off the cuff, elaborating on the story they are telling at the time, with Ant’s comedy timing and Dec’s hearty laugh, this audiobook brought me laugh out loud moments and tears to my eyes with heart felt emotional words between them both. As NSPCC Ambassadors for Childhood, we wanted to show our support for this fantastic charity and their vital work.”

From their modest beginnings in Byker Grove through to their 'unique' time as pop stars and an award-laden TV career, those three decades have flown by in the blink of an eye. They've also featured an incredible cast of supporting characters, including their first scriptwriter - (an unknown comedian called David Walliams), Saturday night fun and games with countless Hollywood A-listers and celebrities they torture - sorry, work with - every year in the jungle. Told through the lens of every TV show they've made, as well as everything they've learnt along the way, this is the riotously funny journey of two ordinary lads from Newcastle who went on to achieve extraordinary things. Anthony David "Ant" McPartlin OBE (born 18 November 1975) is a British television presenter, TV producer, singer, comedian and actor. He is best known for working alongside Declan Donnelly as part of the presenting duo Ant & Dec. McPartlin came to prominence, alongside Donnelly, in the children's drama series Byker Grove, with both of the boys establishing successful careers as television presenters, in which they are most known for presenting SMTV Live (between 1998 and 2001), I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway (since 2002), and Britain's Got Talent (since 2007). Ant and Dec came together to create a new show about their ancestors and to find out where they both came from. The programme was made over two years and Ant and Dec journeyed to places such as Ireland and United States of America. The most amazing part of their DNA journey was that they actually found out that they were in fact distant relations of each other!PJ and Duncan had other chart hits including ‘U Krazy Katz’ and ‘Stepping Stone’ among others. However, a few years later they changed musical direction. In 1997 they changed their duo name from ‘PJ and Duncan‘ to ‘Ant and Dec’, which are their real names. As ‘Ant and Dec’ they had a few more songs out like ‘Shout’, but it was a short lived career move. After 3 albums they decided enough was enough as they didn’t enjoy the popstar experience and they couldn’t write songs. Ant and Dec agreed to quit their popstar life. I was binge-watching Chatty Man, Graham Norton show, Friday night with Jonathan Ross and yes, BGT (don't ask, I'm just really in the brit-show phase right now), and I was drawn to these people who are always making people laugh; David Walliams and Ant&Dec most especially. I think I've watched all the interviews with them on youtube and I bought and finished Camp David last week (I'm still thinking if I'll do a review on that one, it's just so sad). I found Ant and Dec’s autobiography called ‘Ant and Dec — Once Upon A Tyne — Our Story Celebrating 30 Years Together On Telly’ a really good read. I’ve effectively ‘grown up’ with Ant and Dec, from watching them act on TV in their ‘Byker Grove’ days, through to their TV presenting on various shows to this day. I recommend this book as it tells about the unique story of a couple of lads from Newcastle, UK who became best friends and business partners, and about their unique friendship. I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ Has been on ITV in Britain every year since it started in 2002, and a couple of years had two series per year, namely two series in 2004.
