I regret to tell you that you will then be faced with uncontrollable drooling. The photos in this book are utterly glorious, luscious close-ups of unadorned plates of luxurious cakes, tarts, pastries and breads, each with that enviable texture right up in your face for you to lust after. Even the step-by-step pictures feel less like a how-to and more like a come-hither. Although it was very good, the cooking instructions for 15-17 minutes are wrong. It was more like 45 minutes. It really comes down to personal preference; both work equally well and are interchangeable in this dish. Use what you have on hand and try the other type on the next go-round. Overall this is a lovely book with many different recipes for those that wish to try non-healthy gluten free baking.

When you make the pie dough, likelihood is that it will feel very dry – counterintuitively so. You’ll definitely be tempted to add more water. But resist that temptation!! Adding more water will make your baked pie crust tough, whereas we’re trying to achieve perfectly crisp, tender perfection. Not to be dramatic but the raspberry traybake and the landyfingers recipe quite literally changed my life. An incredible gluten free baking book, and just an incredible baking book, period. The author explains the science behind gluten free baking and breaks down how all of the ingredients work together in each recipe. Oh yeah, did I mention she has a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Oxford? I recommend this cookbook and her recipes (theloopywhisk.com) to anyone else who can no longer consume gluten and misses all their favorite desserts/bread, or for those just looking for insanely good, thoughtful and creative recipes.It’s wonderful both in sweet and savoury recipes, so there are really endless possibilities of how you can use it – in fruit pies and savoury quiches, in galettes and hand pies… honestly, I’m drooling just thinking about it. This beef tamale casserole is so good, that I really hate sharing it with anyone but alas it’s impossible not to once that wonderful aroma fills the house as it cooks. I love the fact that I can top it with all my favorite taco toppings, like avocados, cilantro, tomatoes, green onions, whatever you like. But you must top it with something, because the toppings really make it way better, that is if you can improve upon perfection. What Is Tamale? While baked goods can be healthy, goods that use quality ingredients are definitely a better choice than the alternative. If you’re looking for the kind of baked goods you can feel good about, why not stop by our bakery? You’ll be able to eat something made with fresh ingredients.
