About this deal

Behind Her Lives is a spectacular psychological thriller by Briana Cole. Really! Briana Cole is still being Briana Cole. Fabulous! Ima bout ready to pull my hair out. This book has stressed me out more than TMZ and Kevin did Britney in the early 00’s. Behind Her Lives by Briana Cole. Thanks to the author, @netgalley and @kensingtonbooks for the gifted Arc ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you can handle the swearing, I would recommend this book. It’s a great read if you can get past that bit.

We follow Deven on her investigation to neighborhoods she never thought she’d go to, and even a visit to prison. We also follow her on a journey through grief, having recently lost her father to cancer, essentially her mother who has dementia, her twins that she miscarried, and now possibly her sister.Opening the door to the police before 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning can never lead to anything good, a truism confirmed to Deven Reyonlds when she’s told that her younger sister, Kennedy, is dead by suicide and she’s needed to identify the body. But when shown a picture of the women found in Kennedy’s apartment, Deven is relieved to announce that the person is not her sister. The ME, the police, even her sometimes-boyfriend Justin think she is in the denial stage of grief, but Deven knows she’s right. That doesn’t explain though why the woman was found in Kennedy’s apartment or why Deven can’t locate Kennedy. They are shown to live in northern areas of London, with a road sign outside David and Adele's saying they live in Islington in an N1 postcode area. My goodness this was twisty, intense, and did not end in any sort of way that I thought it would. It was a one sitting read that I enjoyed so very much. I listened to this via audio and thought it was really good this way. Robert Aramayo is the 28-year-old actor who plays Rob in Behind Her Eyes. Robert was born in Hull, England, and went to The Juilliard School, a prestigious private performing arts conservatory in New York, after winning a place there at college.

Thank you NetGalley and Tantor Audio for accepting my request to audibly read and review Behind Her Lives. This is where things get interesting. She starts to learn about a whole other life that her sister lead, and none of it is good. It was an addictive read and I felt for Devan. Life was not being kind to her and things just kept getting worse. Behind Her Eyes London location: What areas do Louise, David and Adele live in and is N1 Madison Terrace a real place?

Whew what a story. I can't imagine going to identify someone in a morgue. Then being the only person to see an error. Deven does not believe it is her sister. I sympathized with Devan, but at the same time, she let herself be taken advantage of by the people in her life. She let her boyfriend take advantage of her. Personally, I think he was a narcissist. But not to worry, he gets his later in the book. There are people that care about her, but it takes her a little while to fully trust them and their motives. Actually, there are many characters that are hard to trust, and for good reason, as you will learn. Content Advisory: 26 f-words, 64 s-words, 50 d-words; one short sex scene; suicide; miscarriage, including one dream post-miscarriage that was a little gruesome] year-old actor Tom Bateman was cast as David in Behind Her Eyes on Netflix. He was born in Oxford and has 12 siblings, including a twin brother named Merlin. David studied drama at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Some of my favorite thrillers are family thrillers, especially about sisters. This one was suspenseful and full of mystery. I really like Deven and how she dove right into the case. Amateur investigations are also a favorite of mine. There were some slow moments due to the dual-timelines, but in the end it was all worth it because it helped build the suspense. BEHIND HER LIVES started out strong and I was really into the story, but then things fell flat during the middle, and I wasn't a fan of the ending. this book is about a woman who is told her sister is dead, but she doesn’t believe it & goes on to find her sister. I felt so close to this not the missing sister concept but the losing a loved one. It was so hard to listen the end of the book for me I cried so much. You never realize how important a person to you until you lose it… Behind Her Lives is a mind-bending thriller that has so many twists and turns that reading it felt like being on a speeding train non-stop. The story follows Deven, who finds out her sister Kennedy has died under mysterious circumstances. Unsatisfied with the answers she’s been given she decides to go on an investigation on her own and starts to unravel the lies that surround her sister’s life.

Describing the show to Heart.co.uk ahead of its release, Eve Hewson - who plays Adele - said: "The show is a psychological thriller, and it's a love triangle about a single mother named Louise who starts an affair with her boss while simultaneously sparking up a friendship with his wife." Thank you to NetGalley, Kensington Books and Briana Cole herself for reaching out & giving me this ARC. Lust, jealousy, betrayal, and desperation to survive drive this dramatic tale that will appeal to fans of contemporary multicultural romance authors De’Nesha Diamond, Victoria Christopher Murray, and Shelly Ellis.”

Robert Aramayo – Rob Hoyle

Deven is called to the morgue to identify the body of a woman found dead in her apartment, apparently by drug overdose. They say it is her (half) sister, Kennedy. I have had a miscarriage (7+ years ago) and since then I’ve had four kids, including twins. I was okay reading this book now. I think she handled writing that part pretty well. But I don’t think I would have wanted to read this book if that pain and grief was still fresh. Especially with the short dream sequence that is described after her miscarriage. I don’t think that would have sat well with me. Featuring ~ dual 1st & 3rd person POV, dual timeline, suicide references, miscarriage, secrets, lies, drama, step-siblings A peek inside David and Adele's private life — and a look at Rob's dream journal — leaves Louise with more questions than answers. Lastly, the ending seemed like it came out of nowhere, which I felt let down. After everything I read and the things thrown at me, I was hoping for a better ending than the one I read.
