The in-store experience seems to have once again been the deciding factor in this year's survey, M&S beating discounter Aldi to come top of the table for the second year in a row. Customers loved the appearance of its stores, the service they received from staff and the quality of its products. However, they felt it could offer better value for money. Our panel of taste testers tried out 10 battered fish fillets from big brands including Birds Eye, Young's and Harry Ramsden, as well as supermarket own-brand options from the likes of Aldi, Tesco and M&S. M&S won with its tasty and generous fish fillets, but Morrisons and Tesco are cheaper and only a smidge behind. Wonderfully rich and chewy, our Florentines are made with almonds, glacé cherries and citrus peels wrapped in decadent caramel toffee, on a rich Swiss Grand Cru dark chocolate base. Perfect for treating guests or for serving with tea and coffee after dinner.
