Book an online face-to-face personal appointment to get library help where you don't need to type as you can talk to someone. These stairs lead to different areas of the Library, those being Shankland reading room and Richard reading room. There is a poem called the College on the hill on the wall where the staircase is. The corridor is long and narrow to reach these two places. The area just outside the Richards reading room is where you will find the Teaching and learning support team. Walk-in access to study and PC spaces is available in the Library, or if you would like to book a seat prior to your visit we have specific areas in the library which are pre-bookable for study tables, PCs, Macs and study rooms.We unearthed some silent footage from a 1969 library welcome video, and asked students and staff to remix it into a Halloween film trailer. The winning entry was by Erin McLeod, a Film Studies student from the School of ACT, and it is uploaded below in all its glory. We have material relating to the history of the University, from its foundations in 1896 up to the present day. This team is actively involved with all projects running across IT Services to ensure that the end user's perspective is always considered. The team is also responsible for maintaining and updating all student facing computing spaces to ensure that no shared computer is older than five years old. Main Arts also offers two computer rooms, those being CR1 and CR2. Lastly, it also has the Pritchard Jones Hall, which is where most graduation ceremonies are held.

Welcome to Main Arts Building; within this building are various lecture rooms used for different subjects. The building is also connected to the Bangor University Library. In this Library, we have different rooms which hold books for various subjects and offer a place to read and study. Those rooms are: Richards is one of four reading rooms in the Main Library. This is a quiet room. Please keep noise to a minimum when in here – whispered conversations only. Also, please don’t bring food or drink into this room. You are welcome to eat cold food on one of the sofas or at one of the bistro tables elsewhere in the building. You should not bring hot food into the building. Keen to explore the world of emerging technology? Maybe you have some creative ideas but unsure where to start and what tools to use? The Creativity Lab, based in the University of York Library, offers a range of events and training sessions including fully funded introductory workshops providing opportunities to get to grips with new technology. As part of the University of Bristol’s journey to a net-zero campus, the Library is taking part in a Climate Action Plan to work towards reducing our carbon emissions. This is in response to the Climate Emergency we are currently witnessing as a result of climate change. Everyone is welcome in the library, whether you're a member of the University, a visitor from another institution, or a member of the public.

You will need your ID card to access the library after 5pm weekdays, and throughout the weekend opening period. Assistive technology room (ATR) – this is a restricted access space, equipped with specialised hardware and software for use by students with disabilities. Shankland is our grandest reading room. It’s a quiet room – therefore no noise when in this room please, and, like other reading rooms, no food or drink in here either. It's OK to consume drinks and cold food in the sofa area immediately outside of Shankland. Whether you are brand new to York or you've been here for years, the library can be a lot to take in. We've got lots of guides to get you started. We want to build a collection which is inclusive of all members of our student community. We want to ensure it champions all voices, particularly those that are traditionally underrepresented in curricula and on reading lists.There is also plenty of space to work with your laptop/tablet with extensive Wifi and recharging points. The IT support team – based in a room just off reception, they can help with in-depth IT enquires and also handle IT equipment collections.

The first thing I told my friends is, just go into the library. Don't wait for anything! Don't wait for someone to guide you don't wait for anything: just go. People don't realise the depth of resources the Library has. Most of our study seats can now be used on a walk-in basis by current students. This means that you will not need to book ahead of using them. The library’s main entrance has now re-opened and is accessible via the newly re-furbished outer quad.
Level 4 of the Sir Alex Ferguson Library will be closed from 5pm on Friday 20 October until 7am on Monday 23 October to allow improvements to power and USB charging provision at study spaces to be carried out.
