We recently took a look at the 100 top PlayStation 4 titles as ranked by playtime, and we're expecting almost all of them to be playable at launch on PlayStation 5. The new create a class system is a big change. It allows more freedom in your loadout. Also a open world zombies, scorestreaks and league plays are some fairly substantial changes.

As ever, there are oodles of game types to fiddle around in. The core set is what most players will gravitate towards, which includes your standard team deathmatch, free-for-all and objective-based face-offs such as Headquarters, where players battle for supremacy over an ever-changing area on the map, and plenty more. Then there are hardcore playlists, which carry similar modes to core only with more stringent conditions: less shots required for kills, for example. In a new turn for the series, Treyarch has implemented branching paths that change how the story unravels: you might choose to shoot or spare a man; you may drive carefully or burn half of your friend's face off by veering into flames. These splits ultimately affect the ending, which offers some incentive to play again outside of the difficulty settings. I have been fairly vocal against call of duty for being overrated and more of the same released yearly but it is a damn fun multiplayer game and they have made a good effort to change some things here it seems.

I couldn't tell you exactly what has been updated in the graphics engine, but there seem to be some improvements to lighting and the facial animation technology is better, mouth movements much more realistic, etc.

The landscape of shooters is changing somewhat. The fact is that everyone loves playing military shooters, but we're also realising that we don't want to glorify aimless killings. A lot of games are trying to make you feel that conflict and even make you feel bad about what you're doing. But I don't think it's been handled very well here. Modern Warfare 3: if you created your PSNetwork account relatively recently (mine was created in early 2020), you will not be able to play online to this game, due to some weird bug. There might be a fix if your PS3 is jailbroken, I saw a video on youtube about this, but I have no idea if it works. From what I've read, this game works fine online if your account is old and there was no account renaming involved under PS4, or something like that.One thing I will say about these COD games is that seem to keep people entertained for months on end, which is how you get your money's worth.
