I got this smaller purifier to be a complement to two large-space Blue Air purifiers (which are a godsend.) The Pure 411 Auto has an indicator to tell you whether the air in the room is good, bad or ugly— no guessing. Set it on “auto” and it comes on if the air quality indicates it is needed. There’s also a quiet sleep mode and a full-blast maximum mode. I use this compact model in the guest room when the grandkids are over or in the den when we gather to watch TV. It’s quiet and cute — really glad we got it!

Because our filter is crib-side and is audible outside the room (on the top setting), I tested the decibel levels. From a meter away it was just 38 on high and 15 on low. While the air purifier appears to clean the air, our reviewer, Michelle, is still in the process of extensively testing all of the AeroTower's features. A compact cylinder made of a choice of colourful plastics, the Blue Pure 411 is beautifully simple. It stands just 42.5cm tall and has a diameter of 20cm. It's among the simplest and most compact air purifiers you can get. The Blueair Blue Pure has a 3-stage filtration process that first captures larger particles like dust and pet hair in an external washable pre-filter. The air then moves through a particle filter and activated carbon filter. With arguably better than HEPA technology, this air purifier traps airborne contaminants down to the size of a virus. This means that at the top setting the filter produces 120 cubic feet of clean air every minute. For smoke, the CADR is 105. The purifier manages about 5 air exchanges per hour for a small bedroom or nursery, or one every 12.5 minutes. This filter is only compatible with the Blue Pure 411 series of air purifiers which include the Blue Pure 411 Auto, Blue Pure 411, and Blue Pure 411+. But, of course, how well the air in a room is purified – or the room temperature adjusted – will depend on the size of the room. For example, the LG PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifying Fan with True HEPA and UVnano LED can purify a room size of up to 818sq ft, whereas the Blueair Blue Pure 411 Auto is suitable for a room size of up to 441sq ft. Opt for an air purifier that isn't suitable for use in your room will mean that it ultimately won't be able to deliver optimum performance.
