About this deal

Palate: A delicious fireside dram with notes of chocolate raisins, juicy citrus, stewed fruits, old sherry and pepper. The distillery describes the 18-year-old as “an evolution” of the house style. Let’s taste and see what exactly that means. Tasting Notes: The Dalmore 18 Whiskybase B.V. (“Whiskybase”, “we” or “us”, company details below) offers a whisky enthusiasts online platform that provides its members access to the most comprehensive, transparent and trusted resource of whisky bottles and allows and stimulates its members to contribute information about whisky bottles to the platform (“Service”).

Nose: Fruity and spicy with notes of vanilla, orange zest and potpourri, marmalade and sweet milk chocolate. A touch of leather and sultana. All I can say on this one is “woah.” An NAS release intended to appeal to cigar aficionados as a perfect dram for pairing, this is undoubtedly the curveball of The Dalmore lineup, although its process isn’t really all that different. This release is initially matured in bourbon casks, like the others, before spending time in Matusalem oloroso sherry, but then finishing in Cru Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques. It’s bottled at a somewhat more substantial 44% ABV (88 proof). Alness, Scotland, and Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, have a famous name in the whisky world linking the two cities: The Dalmore. The 10 Best Movies on Apple TV+, Ranked (November 2023) By Jacob Oller and Paste Staff November 1, 2023 | 8:32amThe Dalmore’s age-stated expressions hew to a certain archetype of classic, sherried Highland malt, while the NAS selections are a bit more on the free-wheeling side, differentiating themselves in their styles of finish, unique flavor profiles and variation in proof point. Perhaps unexpectedly, the second cheapest Dalmore expression, Port Wood Reserve, is also the strongest in the entire core lineup, at a still fairly modest 46.5% ABV (93 proof). As the name would suggest, this entry shifts its focus away from the typical sherry and onto secondary maturation in aged tawny port pipes, with the added punch of proof clearly meant to give it another distinguishing characteristic. An evolution of our house style, this exceptional 18 year old expression harnesses bolder notes. A robust and unique whisky. The history of their craft is as long and proud as Dalmore’s heritage, a tradition that is upheld by Master Distiller Richard Paterson, who personally hand selects the exceptional casks in which their whisky is matured and where Dalmore’s celebrated flavour is finessed. Dalmore 18 Year Old (2022 Edition) Whisky | Master of Malt

Palate: Sweet, dry, and rich. Fruity and only very slightly salty. Fresh plum, chocolate syrup, chocolate covered raisins, coffee, tobacco. Very full sherry presence throughout. Continued tobacco segues into the finish. Dry, with a soft bitterness. Wisps of coffee and cream. Final Thoughts:

This annual limited edition begins its maturation journey in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, giving a base of soft vanilla and honey. Further enhancement follows, with a longer finishing in hand-selected 30 year old Matusalem Oloroso Sherry casks from the González Byass bodega in Spain, exclusive to The Dalmore.
