In 2001 werd Koninklijke De Ruijter samen met Hak, Honig en nog enkele bedrijven door CSM verkocht aan Heinz. De Ruijter verhuisde in 2007 vanuit Baarn naar de productiefaciliteiten van Heinz in Utrecht. In 2015 nam Heinz de Amerikaanse concurrent Kraft Foods over en de combinatie is verder gegaan als de Kraft Heinz Company.

When it comes to teaching, as its Director, I co-founded the Amsterdam Law Practice with many others, which is a legal experiential and clinical programme for 17 masters at the Law School. For setting up this new educational programme we were recognized through the Higher Education Award programme of the Dutch Ministery of Education. As extracurricular societal engagement, I am Director of Bureau Clara Wichmann, an NGO in strategic litigation for gender equality.

How can law be used to improve and protect human health – and reversely – what are the legal limits to public and medical establishment’s powers in the face of human vulnerability and the innate human desire for a long and healthy life? In addition to these questions, the actual effect of law and policy on people's health is also central to De Ruijter’s research. ‘In the process of health legislation there is often the presumption that these rules will promote health, but how do we actually ascertain this?’ This requires groundbreaking interdisciplinary research and new research frameworks that include law and policy as a social determinant.
