You don’t get a choice of power modes if you want to use the YouView app on your smartphone. This needs the box to be in high-power mode to work and – like Sky+ – allows you to remotely schedule recordings. Just to update things further, my ‘new’ drive is refurbished and was formatted in Windows. This I think was preventing the box seeing it and formatting it. I tried reformatting in exFAT too and that made no difference. The optical audio output gives the option to split off the audio for those who have a separate speaker system. If you are taking audio through the HDMI into a receiver, then there's an option in the menus to enable Dolby Digital Plus "surround" sound; the same option is there for the optical connection too. I have repaired several of these boxes last one was a humax 9300t with a failed drive fitted a 128 gb ssd drive taken from an alienware laptop wiped partitions fitted into cradle formatted and away it went.

The new box is now complete with BT branding front and centre, which BT is probably rather pleased about and you most probably don't give a hoot about. The design matches that of the latest generation Home Hub 5. Retail wise, a smaller option to the Humax DTR-T2000 but still available through normal retail channels with a normal guarantee is a DTR-T2110, but that does not have the Humax 2nd year guarantee as it is BT badged.I have the BT T2100 box that's much the same as the T2110 and they are great boxes. Member you wont have a 4k(UHD) tuner in the other box like to do with the T4000 apart from that and the hard drive space there is no much difference software wise.

These are designated by three blue dots under the channel name, such at BT Sport, which is free for BT Infinity and BT Broadband customers, and sits in the EPG ready for you to watch, along with ESPN. In that mode, the box takes a tardy 1 minute and 36 seconds to boot up but sips power at under 1W. If you want a much faster boot time (just a few seconds), you’ll need to switch to the ‘high’ power mode which uses somewhere between 8W and 9W.All in all - if you see a TT box (the 372 model) at the right money, don't be put off by some saying that it's not as good as some other box - it's not at all bad. I had a spare laptop hard disk (Hitachi, 80Gb) so I followed these instructions to fit, and it kinda worked – the box was now ‘alive’, it would record the current programme if I pressed the record button, but anything I set to record failed. Maybe it was something to do with the hard disk not being ‘video’ grade, or the small size…

Press the Power button once on the Control Panel on the top of the box. (A small amount of patience is now required) The "Enter Maintenance Mode Y/N (Y: POWER)" disappears from the BT Logo – Waking Up screen. After several seconds the screen goes blank. After several more seconds the Maintenance Mode menu finally appears. Absolutely delighted with this product. as a freeview box its great even for non bt customers. Would recommend this item to anybody. Either a " feature" of the BT box not compatible with the amp is turned on , something like deep color maybe, or the HDMI cable is not up to the job.

I have a Philips 58pus8555 TV so really only want something for occasional recordings, no need for any smart bells & whistles as the TV has it all, it would help if it was fast and user friendly. As there are two Freeview HD tuners inside the box, you can record two separate channels at the same time. Depending on which these are, you may or may not be able to watch a third, different channel while recording two others. You can always watch recorded shows during recording, though. The only other thing I can think of is if you get any problems due to BT ISP subscription/menu maybe slightly different software then you need to do a software reset via Maintenance mode setup.
