About this deal

To capture video directly onto a PC using the 4K Capture Utility, or stream using software such as OBS Studio, connect a USB cable to the 4K60 S+ USB port labeled 'USB' and connect the other end to a Windows PC. DO NOT update firmware for any products at any time, unless Elgato Gaming Support tells you to do so for specific troubleshooting purposes. Ignoring this can potentially permanently damage your device. This function is for essentially turning off the device from OBS Studio or turning it on. This can be helpful if you’re experiencing issues as a way to soft reset the device. More information in #Troubleshooting. Configure Video Once the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ has written the needed files to the SD card, it is simply a matter of hitting the record button when needed. When the middle of a button is solid red, the button is ready to record, and once you press the button, the 4K60 S+ indicates it is recorded by flashing the outer edge. Pressing the button once again will save the video to the SD card and makes it ready for any kind of content creation you could want. “As with most of the Elgato capture range, the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ also supports zero-latency delay, making implementing the device as part of your workflow easy and painless.” S+connects to the Xbox Series X/Susing HDMI. It can passthrough video to a TV set also using HDMI. An HDMI cable is included in the box.

The maximum recording bitrate of 4K60 S+ is 200Mbps (Megabit per second) or 25MB/s (Megabyte per second) Elgato Game Capture software has a Settings section, which allows users to adjust how the hardware behaves. If you didn’t wish for your Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+ to take up the whole screen, you can grab one corner and drag in towards the center to make it smaller. The Elgato 4K60 S+ is a game changer for content creation. Elgato has always been one of the leaders in game capture and streaming, bringing some fantastic products that work and are dead simple to use. From streaming, to audio, to lighting, Elgato has made a business of being the streaming gear that delivers where it needs to. With the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ they have thrown the gauntlet, bringing a powerful capture solution that makes the process of creating premium content easier than ever. We’d generally recommend setting this to Capture audio only. If you wish to listen to audio coming from the ElgatoGame Capture HD60 S+, we’d suggest using OBS Studio’s Audio Monitoring feature.Even with these slight hiccups in mind, the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ delivers some truly stunning video. The ability to record without the need of another computer can be a game changer for many, especially if you go to events, or want to bring exclusive gameplay capture to your viewers that simply can’t be done with a full recording kit for whatever reason. The 4K60S+ is versatile too. If you're taking it on the road, you can power it separately, as noted by an external power source. Using it in this way, you can capture PC footage directly, without using the local PC hardware, which might otherwise impact game performance. At home, you can power it via USB-C to a USB-A port on your PC. This way, you can use it for streaming games as with other Elgato capture devices, or capturing footage directly to your PC from any device connected via HDMI. Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ supports exFAT and FAT32. Most current SD Cards come pre-formatted in exFAT, and exFAT is our recommended format. A tutorial video made by the VEGAS Pro team shows what settings need to be enabled to properly work with, edit, preview and delivery HDR video: A new larger window with a preview will appear (seen below). This is asking you to choose the capture device from a list and to configure it. On the Device selection, choose “ Game Capture HD60 S+”.

S+connects to the PlayStation 5using HDMI. It can passthrough video to a TV set also using HDMI. An HDMI cable is included in the box. Make sure that when you’re working with OBS Studio that 4K Capture Utilityor other capture software is closed. The Elgato Game Capture HD60 S+ can only be access by one program at a time. In rare cases, a firmware update can actually harm the Elgatohardware. This is why it should always be done under the supervision of Elgato Support, under very specific circumstances. For me as a journalist, the ability to bring a device with me, and record footage, all without having a need for a bulky computer, capture combo seems like a dream come true. Even beyond behind closed door sessions, the possibilities for an external capture card that records right onto an SD card at 4K are endless. While the Elgato does offer the 4K Capture Utility software, I would advise against it. While it has improved in recent years, and the company has worked to make it a much more usable piece of software, I still prefer using trusted recording and streaming software like OBS Studio, StreamLabs OBS, and XSplit, they will simply crash less, and give a much better user experience. “The Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ is a capture card ahead of its time, bringing features that few beyond the most dedicated creator’s need.” To truly use this capture card to its full potential, you need a 4K-ready console, 4K monitor with HDR support (not cheap), and a PC beefy enough to edit 4K HDR footage ( really not cheap). Let’s not even get into the amount of bandwidth required to upload 4K video, let alone stream it. To move an object around in your scene, you can hover over it in the preview or select it in your Sources list. Then drag it around in the preview. Scale Please Note: Tonemapping from HDR to SDR is not supported in standalone mode. HDR will always be captured in HEVC / H.265 format.

If the input to 4K60 S+ is 1080p at 30 frames per second, the recording will have a resolution of 1080p and 30 frames per second. While Elgato Game Capture HD is connected to your USB 2.0 bus, please press the Update Firmware button. DO NOT UNPLUG the unit, until the update is compete. Close OBS Studio and open our 4K Capture Utility software to see if a signal comes through. If no signal is appearing, you will need to do some general troubleshooting. In this guide we’ll show you how to use your ElgatoGame Capture HD60 S+ with OBS Studio and configure the software to get the most out of your device for recording or streaming. While this guide is written for OBS Studio, many of the steps are the same for Streamlabs OBS. The ability to capture 4K60 gameplay footage makes the Elgato 4K60 S+ a great companion for anyone looking to make content with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in mind. With both 4K video and the possibility for HDR 10 makes it incredibly versatile, the fact it can work without the need of a PC makes it an even more exciting option. As with any high-end video solution with an onboard encoder, you will want to ensure you don’t skimp on the SD card. While most in-office cards we tested worked, I would suggest you go for one that can support the high bitrate footage and the large file sizes, or you could find yourself looking at stuttering or near unusable video and hours of wasted time.Note: Adding delay to a video source will also add the delay to the audio from that same source. The audio does not need to be delayed separately.

Other audio and video sources in streaming applications must be delayed by around 200ms to match the gameplay video and audio of the Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+. Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+ records to different file types depending on the format of the SD card that is being used. S+ records using a variable bitrate. This option defines the upper limit of bitrate that can be used. Elgato Game Capture 4K60 S+features a powerful H.264/HEVC video encoder which is needed to compress the 4K60 HDR video into a data rate that can be sent over USB 3.0 to a computer or recorded directly onto a SD card without a computer. Compressing the video adds a small amount of latency to the 4K60 S+ when connected to a PC via USB 3.0.This setting will change the container of the recording to MKV. MKV is a corruption resistant container, meaning that if the recording should fail or the SD card is removed during the recording, the file is still usable. Note that not all video editors are compatible with the MKV container.
