One possibility for the delay could be that they are incorporating the Goliath Lineages from the Cleric and Revised Species UA into the book, didn't they have to extend the survey on that one. The four Prehistoric Figurines of Wondrous Power can be a lot of fun in any D&D campaign setting, especially one with enough forests or jungles for dinosaurs to stomp around comfortably. Tough grants the player two additional HP for each level they are, and two more each time they level up, meaning Tough scales evenly throughout the game. Even if Tough isn't fancy and doesn't let the player do anything new, that efficient scaling puts it ahead of some feats that drop off after reaching higher levels. Some giants decide to shun their peers’ gods and turn to deities outside of societal norms, seeking power to defy their position in the ordning, a grave transgression against the ordning that results in social ostracism. Fee-fi-fo-fum! What if an ice giant succumbed to the power of an Elemental Evil? What if they devoted themselves to a demon lord? What if they mastered rune magic? What would a distant elemental relative of an ice giant be like? I quite liked all these cycles as it gives you a lot of choices to work with when you want to include a specific type of giant in your campaign. The Ring of Amity is based on magical bonds between the wearer and one other willing creature or person whom the wearer touches. If the ring's wearer is healed from magical effects or spells, the partner will heal just as much. That allows a party to get double efficiency from the paladin's or cleric's healing effects, saving spell slots.It would have been nice to group the adventure hooks in the Enclaves chapter and encounter tables with some semblance of CR suggestions, so you can better prepare adventures for your party. As the name implies, Bigby Presents: Glory of the Giants is a DnD book entirely dedicated to giants. It provides a detailed look at Giant society, from the mightiest DnD gods to the mundane things you’d find in a Giant’s bag. This also includes some (limited) player options and a wealth of encounter features for DMs – all in line with the book’s gargantuan theme. A pre-existing frostmourn would work well as an encounter in a game set in the frozen north, amidst a horror-themed survivalist adventure like Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden, for example. But the true fun of the frostmourn is the ability to set it up if you have a party that likes being particularly sneaky or dishonorable. That means a player must first get Strike of the Giants at level 4, then take feats like Vigor of the Hill Giant. Dungeons & Dragons lore says that a diverse group of giants pooled their talents to build the first runic colossus, with the goal of driving off a marauding dragon. There may be a few more runic colossi out there, but the blueprints have since been lost, so a campaign may involve some giants asking the party to recover those blueprints. If a truly horrible villain needs to be stopped, perhaps a freshly-built runic colossus can save the day.

Huge options for a small number of fans

Varied though these monsters be, most of them have one thing in common: a hefty challenge rating. This, combined with encounters designed for levels 11 and onwards, means Glory of the Giants mainly caters to high-level D&D parties. The only issue I see with most of this information is giants will have to be a huge part of your campaign for you to start worrying about how many giants live together in a settlement versus a steading. One of them is a free longer adventure, Lost Mine of Phandelver, L1-5, the others are "one-shot" adventures, intended to be played and completed in a single session. Because the damage is “extra damage”, it is multiplied on a critical hit. It can be very tempting to reserve Strike of the Giants for crits, but usually it’s more impactful to use it for the rider effect.
