I have no doubt this woman had appalling and tragic childhood but I found she contracted herself many times throughout her 'story'. There was a lot more she could have written about some aspects of her childhood and there was also a lot of superfluous drivel that didn't need to be there. I first came across Janey years ago and have since followed her on social media. She’s a great comic and it’s just obvious she’s such a caring loving soul and that her family means the world to her.

Such an insight to life in the Gorbals during this time; the challenges and impossibility of it all. Props to Janey for coming out the other end and doing so well. Throughout it all, her indomitable spirit - and her vivid sense of humour - kept her alive. Godley and her sister, Ann Crawford, were sexually abused by their maternal uncle, David Percy. Percy, who was 12 years older than Godley, molested her and her sister for a number of years during their childhoods.
