One of the things that impressed us the most about this board is its thoughtful construction. The Skylla CX is constructed using a cross-woven drop stitch, enabling Sea Gods to make this one of their lightest SUP at just 19 lbs, while also being one of the stiffest of their line up. On the water, this translates into a higher weight range without needing to opt for a heavily built SUP. The Isle Pioneer 2.0 is a very stable, yet lightweight all around SUP that comes with everything you need to paddle on the water for a very reasonable price. At 10’6 x 34”, it’s also very wide throughout the nose to the tail, showing that once again Isle is leaning heavily into the ‘stability’ feature on their all around SUP. All the SUP’s below are perfect for those looking for their first ‘all-rounder’ type board to get comfortable and confident at sea. Most are 10 ft 6 which means they will glide nicely on flat water, be stable enough but will also manoeuvre in a way that you can practice all the different turn variations. The shape of pretty much all 10ft 6 boards means you could have a play in small waves if you were feeling adventurous!

The glide in the water is good and turning is simpler with the shorter body shape. Weight-bearing is not an issue as it can take up to 120Kg. The Atoll 11 is my top choice for this year because it has almost everything any paddler would want in a SUP. Its construction is remarkable and it can take whatever you throw at it. I love the premium accessories too.

The Cruise Carbon 12 is a long board, at 12 feet (as the name suggests), and the extra foot in length is definitely noticeable – the board glides much easier than, for instance, the Atoll. Despite this downside, the Bote Flood is still a nice board with good performance and a unique design that makes it stand out, although the skulls that feature in the design might not be to everyone’s taste – even if they are somewhat trendy. Very stable, high weight capacity, and super versatile. Great for larger paddlers, families, beginners, and fishers, or anyone wanting to load their SUP with lots of gear
