About this deal

Always take special care when using emollients after bathing; this may present an increased risk of slipping and falling. This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy.

When applied to the skin, Hydromol Cream is easily absorbed, helping to soften dry skin and eczema. Its non-fragranced formula can be applied as often as needed throughout the day. Use a clean spoon or spatula to remove emollients from a pot or tub. This reduces the risk of infections from contaminated pots. Risk of slipping

If you or your children need to use an emollient regularly, it's a good idea to keep some in small pots or tubes at home, school or work. How to use emollients How to use emollients on your skin Everyday soaps, shampoos and shower gels usually dry out the skin and can make skin conditions like eczema worse. If the above applies to you, or if you are not sure, speak to your doctor or pharmacist before you use Hydromol Intensive. By smoothing and softening the skin moisturisers can increase the absorption of other medicines that are applied to the skin. This can be useful in conditions such as eczema because it improves the ability of other medicines, such as corticosteroid creams, to penetrate the skin and reduce inflammation.

Hydromol may be less suitable for those with oily or acne-prone skin, as it can be too greasy for those skin types. Can Hydromol cream be used in conjunction with other skincare products? This cream contains various other ingredients that have moisturising properties, such as isopropyl myristate, and also contains liquid paraffin, which provides a layer of oil on the surface of the skin. This helps prevent water from evaporating from the skin surface. Both actions soothe and soften the skin, and reduce the scaling and itching of dry skin conditions such as eczema and ichthyosis.

Hydromol Intensive Cream

Use this cream as a barrier. Use every day, at least twice a day. Apply when you are dry. This keeps the skin softer and can help separate the labia (lips). There is no limit to how often this cream can be used. It contains 10% urea, a vital component of the skin’s own Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). Urea is a naturally occurring humectant, attracting water into the skin and hydrating it from the inside. Your skin feels dry, itchy and scaly when the outer layer of skin cells, known as the stratum corneum, loses too much water. The stratum corneum normally contains natural water-holding substances that retain water seeping up from the deeper layers of the skin. Water is also usually kept in the skin by a film of natural oil (sebum) and broken-down skin cells that slow down evaporation of water from the skin surface. If you forget to use Hydromol Cream on any occasion, do not worry, just apply the cream and continue as normal.

It's especially important to regularly apply an emollient to your hands and face, as they're exposed to the elements more than any other part of your body.
