The appliance's internal cavity holds a six-quart steel pot that sits on a heating element and is removable for cleaning. The pot has dedicated side handles that nest into the exterior ones; it's much easier to grip and move this inner steel pot than the handle-less pots that many other models use. The instruction manual does list the time and temperature settings for each pre-set but I found it frustrating that there’s no additional info. Like for the beef pre-set, there’s no information to tell me whether this is designed for a joint of beef or just some small chunks.To start cooking in the Instant Pot you first have to select a cooking method from the buttons down each side of the control panel; pressure cook, slow cook, rice/ grain, sous vide, steam, yogurt, sauté, or you can choose the keep warm function if you just want to warm something. The Instant Pot Pro might be a bit more expensive than other Instant Pots, but I also think it looks better and with virtually every cooking function you could need as well as pre-set food programs, you won’t run out of things to make in it.

The Vortex Plus retains the square shape of the Instant Vortex Air Fryer, including the square basket and dishwasher-safe crisper tray, but builds on this with a brushed stainless steel finish, although it’s not as fingerprint-resistant as you might hope. After that, I made chili by combining diced beef, ground turkey, a diced onion, red beans, and crushed tomatoes, along with a healthy amount of dark chili powder and some other spices. This time, I set the Instant Pot to saute with the app, put some oil in the pot, and let the onion sweat in there for a few minutes with the lid off. Next, I added the meat and browned it in the same mode, before mixing in the beans and tomatoes.
