Computer on mute they hissed, playing a file with no audio they hissed, hell....unplugged from USB they had a hiss! Two sets did that. Got the Kantu YU2 and they are dead silent when they are supposed to be. Used the AudioEngine stands and they look great on my desk. Sub-out to a DefTech and it sounds amazing. The choice of the speaker depends upon your needs and preferences. Both speakers Kanto and Audioengine A2+ have different features. If you want to connect the speaker with an audio source via Bluetooth, then Audioengine A2+ is the best option. Also, there is no need for a subwoofer if you are using Audioengine A2+. Their limited variety of connections means no Bluetooth or remote control so using them beyond plugging them into your computer isn’t realistic. They also don’t have a headphone out connection and some people might find them a bit expensive. Kanto does not give headphone output connection options. So, you cannot plug in headphones in Kanto speakers.
