About this deal

A lower viscosity lubricant is kind of like finishing the wood with oil whereas the higher viscosity is like painting over the wood. While you can in theory use the bag lube method for the stem as well as the spring, it ends up being a poor solution for the stem as it is less evenly distributed on the stem, is wasteful on parts that don’t need lube and creates a mess of the part you actually mount the keycap on. Krytox™ is the brand name for a variety of specialty synthetic lubricating materials available in numerous grades. Although the lubricant is chemically stable and non-hazardous please wear gloves and place a protective layer of drop-plastic below any working surface. Spills are difficult to clean, and the lubricant will transfer from an operator's hands to any surface they may touch.

As a general rule of thumb, lower viscosity lubricants are used on tactile switches, whereas higher viscosity lubricants are used on linear switches. This is often desirable because you don’t want to cover up the tactility of a tactile switch. You want to keep that exposed while smoothing away some imperfections. On the other hand, a linear switch may not have as much character as a tactile switch and perhaps you might feel the imperfections a bit more as well, and so often you want a very smooth experience while not worrying too much about masking the original switch qualities. Thanks to its indefinite shelf life you won't have to worry about purchasing another one for a long time, or it degrading your keyboard and compromising it.

Characteristics of Krytox™ Performance Lubricants

Provided directly from the manufacturer, our genuine, high-quality 205g0 switch lubricant is perfect for lubing any of your switches! Makes Linears feel super smooth and ok for tactiles if you don’t over lube buttery smooth and adds a nice softness to switches removes all spring ping and crunchiness. Today we are going to be taking a look at Kinetic Labs’ newest switch called the Moon V2 Linear Switch! The Moon V2 is an improvement from the Moon V1’s in 2 areas: better lube job, and tighter housings. The difference here is that the factory lube job ( Krytox 205g0) is now applied by hand instead of by a robot which will provide a much even experience when it comes to how much lube is on each switch. Krytox™ GPL 205 can be used in a wide range of general-purpose lubrication where non-flammable, food safe, non-reactive & exceptionally long-lasting performance is required. I heard about very popular one called Krytox. The most talked about are Krytox GPL 205g0, GPL 205g2 and GPL 105g0. So what do these grades mean and which one is the best for linears? What are your recommendations?

Not consistent, sluggish and will probably gum up after a while. You get more variety with Krytox as well While Krytox™ grease will not react with the other greases or cause decomposition or any hazardous reactions, it will not stop the other lubricant from breaking down from heat and oxidation. Therefore, it is not recommended to mix Krytox™ lubricants with any non-perfluoropolyether (PFPE) oil or grease. Characteristics of Krytox™ Performance Lubricants Honestly, if it’s easier to get one over the other then don’t fret too much about it. What’s with all the Numbers? Krytox™ fluorinated oils are a series of low molecular weight, fluorine end-capped, homopolymers of hexafluoropropylene epoxide. The polymer chain is completely saturated and contains only carbon, oxygen, and fluorine; hydrogen is not present. Krytox™ Performance Lubricants ApplicationsAlthough chemically stable and non-hazardous, wear gloves and place a protective layer on your working surface. Spills are difficult to clean, and the lubricant will transfer from an operators hands to any surface they may touch. I heard about very popular one called Krytox. The most talked about are Krytox GPL 205g0, GPL 205g2 and GPL 105g0. So what do grades stand for and which one is the best for linears? What are your recommendations? Greases can be formulated with different viscosity oils to handle varying temperatures and load conditions. Non-flammable, non-silicone, high-temperature stable (up to 355°F), fluorinated polymer lubricant. Krytox 205g0 was designed by The Chemours Company FC, LLC to provide a non-migrating grade 0 grease viscosity for ease of application. 1ml is approx. 2g Independently tested and confirmed for LOX and GOX use by major oxygen manufacturers and test authorities, including BAM.

Additives are often incorporated into the grease to enhance anti-corrosion protection and raise load-carrying ability, reducing wear. Our standard grease grade is NLGI (National Lubricating Grease Institute) Grade 2; however, upon request, we produce NLGI Grades 000 through 6. For more information on NLGI grade options, please refer to the Krytox™ Performance Lubricants Product Overview. Basically, the 20Xs are greases, and the 10Xs are oils, the higher the end number the higher the viscosity. Krytox is a type of grease/oil and is produced by DuPoint (Original Creator) and Miller which is generally considered as superior to DuPoint and is most well know for their Tribosys 3203/3204 lines of lube, the main vendor for this is SwitchMod (Krelbit). 205G0 is usually preferred for linear, Grade 2 is the standard and has a peanut butter like consistency, Grade 00 is near semi fluid and I would recommend against this as it can actually separate in near room temperature environments. There's also Grade 0s which is basically an oil. Don’t overthink it. I believe many of us get caught up in the right or wrongs inherent of this community but a lot of it is really subtle differences that quite frankly you might not notice when typing daily. I’m all for paying attention to the details (hence my own journey into the lube world) but don’t feel obligated to use this or that just because so and so says so. Honestly, it’s pretty hard to screw this up so long as you’re using one of the above mentioned lubricants. Dirt is one of a bearing’s worst enemies. Debris, anti-rust preservatives, and other residues limit lubricity, which can result in failures. Proper bearing preparation and use of high-quality lubricants, such as Krytox™ performance lubricants, can reduce facility downtime and maintenance costs. For an industry standard lubricant, look no further than Krytox GPL 205g0 PTFE grease as the lubricant of choice for linear switches and stabilisers, providing a buttery smooth feeling and dampened sound to your mechanical keyboard switches and stabilisers. Good questions there. In my experience so far I haven’t had to do any maintenance or reapplication of lubricant. I’ve had one board lubed for about a year and it still feels very good. I don’t know if the feel has changed because it would be a subtle shift over a long period of time but I can still say that they feel lubricated and aren’t in need of further adjustment. Been using this lube for a while now since I have been in the hobby and it is popular for good reason. Krytox™ lubricants can be used in applications where nonflammability, oxygen compatibility, materials compatibility, high-temperature stability, and resistance to aggressive chemicals are requirements.
