About this deal

The LEGO Architect Series is a line of LEGO sets that allows users to build detailed models of famous landmarks and architectural structures from around the world. The sets are designed to be educational, and are intended to teach users about the history, design, and engineering of these structures. Fallingwater appears in season 18 episode 3 of The Simpsons, the long-running animated series. Following Homer Simpson's antics, Marge Simpson learns carpentry and builds a birdhouse depicting Fallingwater, along with other notable architectural achievements.

The Fallingwater vacation home was completed in Mill Run, Pennsylvania (USA) in 1939. Designed by famed architect, Frank Loyd Wright, the design graced the cover of Time Magazine in 1938 and has been considered the world's most famous private residence ever since. The first segment is placed immediately onto the base, with only a single stud required to hold it in place. In the beginning of this article, I said that Fallingwater has been at the top of my LEGO wish list for years. I happen to live just a few hours away from the real Fallingwater, and what I appreciate most about the real-life structure is how it captures the beauty of Pennsylvania’s mountains. A quote in the instruction guide says, “Fallingwater achieves something that no country home successfully had before: it emphasizes, in every place and at every turn, the wonder and beauty of nature in this woodland setting.”(Bruce Brooks Pfeifer, “Frank Lloyd Wright – Fallingwater,” 2003.) This is the Pennsylvania I know and Fallingwater captures it perfectly, the merging of form and nature.

Storrer, William Allin. The Frank Lloyd Wright Companion. University of Chicago Press, 2006, ISBN 0-226-77621-2 (S.230) Fallingwater's six bathrooms are lined with cork tiles. When used as a flooring material, the cork tiles were hand-waxed, giving them a shiny finish that supplemented their natural ability to repel water. Over time the cork has begun to show water damage, requiring the Conservancy to make frequent repairs. [40] At age 67, Frank Lloyd Wright was given the opportunity to design and construct three buildings. With his three works of the late 1930s, (Fallingwater, the Johnson Wax Building in Racine, Wisconsin, and the Herbert Jacobs house in Madison, Wisconsin), Wright regained his prominence in the architectural community. The house was used as a model for the residence of Joji Saiga, a former psychology professor in the psychological anime series Psycho-Pass.

Grille plates have become a signature look for the Architecture series, especially in the skyline sets. Fallingwater was actually the first LEGO Architecture set to use them, and they would not appear again until a few years later with the Big Ben set.

The conclusion of Greg Sestero's directorial debut Miracle Valley was shot inside of Fallingwater. This is the first feature film to ever shoot in the house. [50] Many modern Lego instructions include a part list at the end of the booklet. In the case of multiple booklets the list might be found in the middle of the PDF. Wright had initially planned to have the house blend into its natural settings in rural Pennsylvania. [33] In doing so, he limited his palette to two colors, a light ocher for the concrete and his signature Cherokee red for the steel. [34] Tadao Ando, 1995 Laureate: Biography" (PDF).
