Normaliseeriv samas andes kasulikke nippe. My daughter couldn't put it down and read it in 2 days. Read at breakfast, walking downstairs, tea time, in the bath. Have any of the things that happen in the first book and the new book ever happened to you? (from Flora, age 11) Not only is she about to start high school without any friends or glamorous swooshy hair, she's just discovered she's too flat-chested to wear A BRA!

Katie Kirby is a writer and illustrator who lives by the sea in Hove with her husband, two sons and dog Sasha. Lottie Brooks continues to navigate the many perils of growing up in this fantastically funny illustrated series for a 9-12 audience, filled with friendship, embarrassing moments and plenty of lols.

The Catastrophic Friendship Fails of Lottie Brooks by Katie

Welcome to the world of Georgia Nicolson - an angst-ridden teenage girl who keeps a diary to record the rollercoaster of emotions and experiences she faces every day Een best leuk boek over een meisje dat graag populair wilt worden en alles wat ze meemaakt.

Keep in touch

Her growth through the book is huge and she ends her diary with the message that you shouldn't do anything you don't want to do just because someone tells you to and actually it's okay to just be you. Which I think every preteen (or tween as some in my class like to be referred as!) needs to hear. She openly discusses what her body is going through (or not going through) during puberty and comparing it to everyone else. From an adult point of view, I liked how her mum talked about it with her and celebrated her changing body and didn't make her feel like it was something to feel shameful about. We need more body positive talk! Don't be discouraged by my 3 stars. It would be more but it will never compare to my favourites with 4 and 5 stars being a completely different kettle of fish. Plus it does not resonate with my pre-teen self as much as others claim due to cultural differences, but it totally can and i honestly and fully enjoyed it, read it in one evening (very late evening) and am very tempted to reach for what the author offers for adults. So it is a briliant apple ona pear scale that one!! Many people said her sense of humour was silly and immature so she is now having a bash at writing children's fiction. The Extremely Embarrassing Life of Lottie Brooks is her first novel.

Book Review: The Extremely Embarrassing Life of Lottie Brooks Book Review: The Extremely Embarrassing Life of Lottie Brooks

From hilarious bestselling author, Katie Kirby, comes a brand-new Lottie Brooks story. This time it's CHRISTMAS!!! She will no longer let the mean girls upset her. She will not burble incomprehensibly in front of the boy she really likes. And she will most definitely not embarrass herself; either in public or on social media. At least that’s the plan. She has a degree in Advertising and Marketing and after spending several years working in London media agencies, which basically involved hanging out in fancy restaurants and pretending to know what she was talking about, she had some children and decided to start a blog called 'Hurrah for Gin' about the gross injustice of it all. The character of Lottie is so relatable too. I know I'm years away from my own childhood but my memories are pretty strong. I know all too well the realities of so called 'popular girls' (although in my school it was actually both the girls and the boys who were equally mean) making fun of me for the slightest thing. And although this is a humorous book that had me laughing out loud in some places, there were also some emotional moments where Lottie is crying in bed. Katie likes gin, rabbits, over-thinking things, the smell of launderettes and Monster Munch. She does not like losing at board games or writing about herself in the third person.Written in the form of a diary, Lottie’s musings show how awkwardness is essentially a learning experience and almost no one gets through their teenage years without at least a few mortifying moments.
