In David Walliams’ new book Megamonster, Larker is sent to The Cruel School for pulling a prank, it’s anything but textbook! Not only does it lie on top of a volcanic island in shark-infested waters, but the lessons are appalling, the food is revolting, and the teachers are absolutely terrifying!

Home > Added to all this, David’s books have achieved unprecedented critical acclaim: Awful Auntie, Ratburger and Demon Dentist won the National Book Awards Children’s Book of the Year and in France David was awarded the popular Tamtam for Mr Stink and the prestigious Le Prix Du Livre De La Jeunesse for Ratburger, so it comes as no surprise that countless broadsheet reviewers have compared David to his all-time hero, Roald Dahl. David Walliams books are a great escape (pardon the pun) from the real world. I think this about the 18th book by Mr Walliams that I've read and it is as good as any of the others. It's set in a fantastical world that Walliams is great at inventing and filling with a menagerie of characters. In David Walliams’ new book Megamonster, Larkeris sent to The Cruel Schoolfor pulling a prank, it’s anything but textbook! Not only does it lie on top of a volcanic islandin shark-infestedwaters, but the lessons are appalling, the food is revolting, and the teachers are absolutely terrifying! As well as being a No.1 best-selling Children’s author, David Walliams is one of Britain's most popular writers and comic actors.

This book had everything one expects from a David Walliams book; a fantastic story, wonderful characters, and a great message for young readers. All of this is delivered with wit and intelligence that only David Walliams can produce. The way in which the characters learn as they go through strange yet entertaining situations is thrilling for readers. That is also when the fun begins. How are the students able to find out the secret of the school and not only survive it? It is a fun read. I read this with a nine year old girl and even she realised how stupid the plot was. She kept asking sensible questions like why a girl climbing up a drainpipe was suddenly on the ground, how a child who hadn’t eaten in days could stay up night after night without getting tired, or why she was suddenly best friends with a boy she met briefly at one breakfast? This is the 3rd book I've read of David Walliams, it's got a very clever premise, has a great message for kids and it's genre could be called light horror. One of the greatest elements of this book; as with all David Walliams’ books, is that it perfectly walks the naughty line. Young readers get to read a wonderful book that is a little bit rude, a whole lot of fun, and totally addictive.

This is the first David Walliams book I’ve read, and after hearing nothing but praise for his previous books, I was excited to finally give it a go. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. I’m sure kids will enjoy reading it, but I expect a higher standard for quality literature, be it for kis, YA or adults. The same jokes over and over again, as well as some very juvenile humour made it a seem like it’s dragging, and I often found my thoughts wandering off, even though it’s not a long book. The plot was somewhat entertaining, but there was just nothing underneath it, and I think that’s what I found the most disappointing. Overall, I think three stars is a realistic review - it’s fine, and children would find it entertaining, but if you are looking for a new classic, I would look eslewhere. Run by the science teacher Doctor Doktur with the aid of her weird spectacles and the Monsterification machine. David has proved himself as a dramatic actor in BBC2's 'Capturing Mary' with Dame Maggie Smith, in BBC1's Agatha Christie series 'Partners In Crime', as Frankie Howerd in the biopic ‘Rather You Than Me’ for BBC4, and on the stage in Harold Pinter’s 'No Man’s Land' starring alongside Sir Michael Gambon. He received the Comedy Award at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for his performance as Bottom in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ directed by Michael Grandage.

I am a massive fan of David Walliams’ book so I was very excited to get my hands on this book. Given that I have read all of David Walliams' books I went into this one with high hopes. I am happy to say it definitely lived up to my high expectations. Larker is being sent to a new school and not just any school, she is going to attend The Cruel School, situated on a volcanic island amidst sharks there is no way off for Larker or any of the pupils. Sniffing the crime at any time with my super powered sense of smell, my enemies know to fear my amazing nose and my radioactive snot It has been a while since Walliams wrote a story about a girl with wit as sharp as a smooth edge of paper, a delightful sense of humour, and courage that fails at nothing. (... other than sharks?)

His most recent fiction title, The World’s Worst Children, published on 19th May 2016 sold over 340,000 copies in the UK alone. It went straight to No. 1 on release where it stayed for 4 weeks and also concurred Children’s Books charts, where it stayed at No.1 for 7 weeks. Internationally sales continue to thrive, The World’s Worst Children also went straight to No. 1 in the Australian children’s chart and remained there for three consecutive weeks and reached the No. 1 in the overall book chart in New Zealand. Ok, so recalling my reading experience for this book i remembered i had a really mysterious feeling while reading and now I get it why, it's because there are barely any humans like only 2 or 3 humans who talk and rest are monsters or robots..... David Walliams said "My son came up with the title for me. We kept talking about how great it would be if there was a giant monster made up of all different monsters. I thought this was a wonderful starting point for a story." What's wrong with it? There wasn't anything original here, now for the kids who are new to this kinda adventures, I suspect they'll have a blast, sadly I found this the weakest of his books, would I chance another tale from this funny, charming comedian?
