About this deal

Burson Soloist 3XP + Composer 3XP: Brought already the Empyrean to shine, especially when the Soloist is in PowerAmp mode and the Composer is handling the volume control, so does on the Liric (even the bass pressence is a little bit on the leaner side) Warm fundamental range transition into the upper fundamentals; therefore warm, lush lower mids without becoming overly muddy or muffled sounding. We build high-end headphones, so we obsess about sound quality. Every aspect counts. The engineering, choice of materials, the precision of craftsmanship, the reliability are all equally important. With a sonic character that’s easy to love at first listen, the 99 Classics are pleasingly even-handed and bask in full-bodied lusciousness and clarity from top to bottom. There’s a natural warmth to the midrange that laps up Chris Stapleton's country crooning as we play Whiskey And You, with the Mezes keen to throw his vocal under the spotlight.

Meze Audio - Sound. Comfort. Design. True high-end.

MIDS: Mid tones give lot of details and instrument separation. Sounds of pianos and guitars are lifelike. Vocals too are presented well and in detail. You can hear every whisper and breathe. They appear a bit forward of soundstage. One of the reasons headphones and earphones in India are more expensive than overseas is because of the Goods & Services Tax in India. When you look at everything dismantled in the picture below it is a surprisingly simple but effective build. So in the Romanian body lives the Ukrainian heart, and damn, that’s a very interesting heart. In Meze Liric the driver is called MZ4 and it has a similar hybrid design to the previous models, but this time it’s way easier to drive.

Many companies do this; they buy cheap headphones from a mass manufacturer and rebrand them. Some are quite open about it and have gained respect throughout the headphone world.

Meze 99 Classics and they sound terrible I got the Meze 99 Classics and they sound terrible

The sound signature is tuned for long listening sessions same as the ergonomics: clarity without harshness, freshness without fatigue. If you have an AMP or other device that can output balanced then you can think about getting a balanced cable - otherwise don’t worry about it, they run just fine unbalanced (i happen to get mine from a friend). I heard good things about the nighthawk carbon headphone, same price as meze, might be worth taking a look at them. Almost all of the songs on it are showing the most important elements already at the first 30 seconds, so it is easy to go through when multiple HPs are involved in test. Not too much width but fairly good localisation and decent layering. Instrument separation could be a little better, just like the separation (it's not foggy but not spot-on sharp and exact either).
