The advice given has a generally positive outlook but does not shy away from the less pleasant issues that can arise in readings. The print quality is excellent. The images have crisp and precise lines, and the colours are solid, without bleeds or blurring.

The Two of Cups uses natural (land and sea) and human-constructed elements (boots vs slippers, clean fitted dress vs cut jeans, and oversized t-shirt) to show differences between the two partners coming together in agreement. The Modern Witch Tarot has 78 modern cards with young women on them. It has illustrations of all kinds of women, femmes, and people who aren’t sure what their gender is.

Designed by Lisa Sterle, The Modern Witch Tarot was created during a low point of Lisa’s life: Jaded by the trudge of feeling trapped within a dead-end-design job, Lisa felt her creativity, passion for art, and general faith in humanity was being drained. Madoka is a virtual and augmented-reality researcher. Based between Tokyo and Los Angeles, her work dissects the differences between the two cultures and the fusion of feminism and witchcraft in the US. She employs Waite-Smith imagery that has been modernized to fit 21st century reality. While some may regard it as comic book art, the pictures don’t have the monotonous uniformity of comics; each figure is distinctive, with minute elements characterizing their look and emotion. The bonus card Everything Is Fine is similar to the 10 of Swords, so its title probably says it all. It may replace the 10 of Swords.Toward the end of the book instruction is given for the care and storage of cards, how to prepare for a reading, phrasing a question, and doing a layout.
