Nostradamus believers have speculated the leader is Kim amid his dramatic weight loss and consistent rumours about his health. This prophecy came true just after 4 years Nostradamus wrote about it. King Henry II of France was killed in a match to celebrate a peace treaty. It may be the medical profession was motivated by jealousy, or perhaps the doctors at Montpellier thought Nostradamus's confections dangerous. After all, as he himself admits, the love jam is to die for. First invented "by Medea", it is said to have caused the death of the poet Lucretius. According to the interpreters of the prophecies, Nostradamus may also have predicted the death of North Korean dictator Kim-Jong Un.

The king of terror, Nostradamus’s interpreters suggested, was the antichrist. Others argued that, because Angolmois is a (near) anagram of Mongolais, the 16th-century French term for Mongolians, invasion of Europe from the east was imminent – though whether by Russians, Chinese or tooled-up descendants of Genghis Khan riding like Dothraki hordes was uncertain. Nostradamus expert Prof Alexander Tollmann found the matter so worrying that he retreated to his bunker in lower Austria to wait out the catastrophe that never came. Another event that the French seer may have predicted was the rise of Napoleon Bonaparte, also referred to by Nostradamus experts as the First Antichrist. In one of his quatrains, Nostradamus used the words, “Pau, Nay, Loron,” which students of the prophet suggest is an anagram for Napaulon Roy, or Napoleon, the King (Roy) of France. Napoleon would, of course, go on to conquer nearly all of Europe before his ultimate defeat and death in exile.

Among his thousands of cryptic prophecies, are also believed to be those which chillingly detail exactly how our world will end.At the end of the war, the great powers change. Near the coast three beautiful children are born. They will ruin the people when they come of age. They will change the kingdom and see it grow no more." How to interpret the texts of Nostradamus? Nostradamus wrote: "Seven months of the Great War, people dead of evil-doing. Rouen, Evreux shall not fall to the King." That’s why they are the ones who will “save the world from the forces of darkness”because they will help us heal the shadows of humanity. And the number is just a sacred quantity that, if reached, creates a powerful wave that cannot be stopped. As Jones puts it: “Nostradamus has the virtue of vagueness combined with apocalyptic fervour. That’s not unusual. Many sayers of sooth, from Merlin and Geoffrey of Monmouth onwards, have done the same. This vagueness lends itself to what we now know as confirmation bias. In desperate times, soothsayers have a ready audience for their insane nonsense. It’s the meeting point of cynicism and gullibility.”
