About this deal

And here comes the upgrade which is designed to please almost everyone. Not much more expensive than the Pebble, the Pebble Plus is now a 2.1 speaker system with a dedicated subwoofer. Creative Pebble Plus is an excellent budget option for anyone who wants to enhance their home desktop audio setup, as long as cable management isn't a turnoff. The sheer size of the Nommo Pro makes it a poor choice for those short on desk space but if you have the room to accommodate it, it’s a powerful and versatile system that will enhance your audio experience whether you’re gaming, watching a movie or simply listening to some tunes.

The baby-hug inlay looked and felt supremely comfortable, and the top side wings make a cosy headrest. It's worth knowing that the insert makes the seat very warm, which is something to watch out for on hot summer days. The straps are snug and tighten well; even our tester's mini escapologist couldn't wriggle out! Are the materials machine washable? Speakers with Bluetooth aptX technology avoid most of the sound-quality compromises that can mar the audio quality of lesser Bluetooth speakers. However, some high-end speakers also offer Wi-Fi connectivity, which uses your Wi-Fi network to deliver improved wireless sound quality. This often goes hand in hand with the option of linking multiple speakers together as part of a multiroom speaker system.

What is disappointing is that the USB cable is for power input only, and you can not stream audio from your PC with it, the only way to get some audio coming is through the 3.5mm Aux-in plug. During our listening sessions, we focus on how well the low-end, midrange and high-end frequencies are represented and how it all affects the speakers' frequency response. Some speakers might have too much high-end, making for an overly bright and unpleasant listening experience. Sometimes, there’s too much low-end, resulting in muddy-sounding audio. Compared to AC powered 2.1 systems, the Creative Pebble Plus pales in terms of volume output. With that said, even at medium volume, these speakers are already able to fill up my small bedroom with sound. When compared side by side with the built-in Bang & Olufsen speakers of the HP EliteBook, the Pebble Plus sounds much louder. Also, the quality offered here is extremely impressive, as these speakers sound well-balanced, clear and full of life. That’s handy if space is at a premium but the Katana SE has more going for it than just its compact all-in-one nature. Its audio is clear and balanced and can be customised extensively using the Creative app, while the bar makes a decent fist of virtual surround sound. Its attractive LED display can be personalised, while connection options are wide-ranging and enable you to use the bar with your TV as well as your PC. Connection options aren’t the most extensive, but Bluetooth provides a welcome wireless option if you’re not hooking the bar up to your PC using the included USB-C to USB-A cable or simply want to use the Leviathan V2 to stream music from your phone. Speaking of your phone, the Razer Audio mobile app allows you to select from Music, Game, Movie and Flat EQs, or create your own using a ten-band graphic equaliser. You can also customise the Chroma lighting effect on the bottom of the bar, and similar options can also be found in the Razer Synapse software for PC. You can’t take home this kind of speaker system without a price, however, and in the Razer Nommo V2 Pro’s case, it’s a pretty steep one. But, if you’re a more discerning listener, you’re getting your money’s worth here – that’s especially compared to true audiophile systems that are much more expensive. We find that games especially come alive with the Arena 9s. Audio elements physically circle us when we move our character’s point of view. And, thanks to that subwoofer, we feel the rumble whenever there’s an explosion. Even listening in stereo, the audio sounds detailed, clear and engaging. Beyond the sound quality, we take into account the different connectivity options and how that impacts what we hear. We compare the sound quality between the different connections and whether the end result has the same audio quality or not.

There are a few things that make the Vigilant Audio SwitchOne special. To start, they’re powerful and room-filling speakers that sound excellent despite the fact that there are just two small-ish bookshelf speakers and no subwoofer. And, yes, they come with impressive even without a sub. For how much it costs, these studio monitors blows us away with its fantastic audio that's neutral enough for a podcast or mixing a song.

Echoing the accomplishments of its compact yet powerful predecessor which was honored as the Best Computer Speakers of 2018 by PC Mag, the Creative Pebble Plus supercharges your listening experience by offering double the bass while retaining its clean and minimalistic design along with USB connection. Its compact design helps it fit seamlessly under most monitors, while intuitive controls, including a handy volume wheel, make it a user-friendly option to plug in and enjoy right away. The only connectivity you might miss is an AUX-in but as an alternative to traditional PC speakers, the Stage SE does so much else right at extremely low cost that its absence is easy enough to forgive.

That subwoofer is surprisingly powerful for its size as well, producing a good amount of rumble for those intense game and movie moments. If you think that computer speakers are becoming obsolete, these will certainly change your mind. However, we found that we could play around with the sound quite a bit thanks to the Steelseries’ Sonar Audio Suite. Specifically, there’s a parametric EQ on hand that lets you fine-tune your audio far beyond what most gaming and computer-centric speakers allow. And, if you have a multiple device setup, know that the Arena 3 come with two analog inputs and a multi-function button that lets you switch between the two easily. Adam Audio is known for delivering high-end studio monitors at a similarly high-end price, but the T5V prove that you can have your affordable cake and eat it. They’re not the lightest or most stylish speakers around, but they deliver superb sound for the price.

The Steelseries Arena 3 are the company’s entry-level speakers. As such, they’re the most stripped down of the company’s product line. And, while you won’t get the rear satellites of the Arena 9 or the subwoofer of the Arena 7, you’re still getting quality sound, an immersive soundstage, and entry into Steelseries’ new audio suite. There are some compromises here, as is expected on inexpensive peripherals, but none of those are too big to put you off. Hands-down, this is the best computer speakers for those on a tight budget. When we first hear the Edifier MR4 studio monitors, we were blown away, especially considering its price tag. At any rate, these are mostly fantastic sounding speakers that are close enough to neutral that you can use them for content creation, whether that’s fixing audio for a podcast or mixing a song.
