I would appreciate seeing some configuration suggestions in the guide when it's running dd-wrt. Recommended wifi channels and other setup configurations specific to the model which it might benefit from. Kong just announced an openwrt build for the R7800/7500v2. As far as I can tell no latency issues + great wired/wireless throughput. It also comes with a cool theme that is not included in official openwrt releases. I'm currently alone with DAWN and right now I am doing different IPv6 project. There is now even another project https://github.com/blogic/usteer I hope we can somehow combine our work. There are links to configuration options like the one Per Yngve pointed to in the Usefull Information /Wireless settings section

The router’s antennas were centered on the test chamber turntable with all antennas vertical as shown in the photo below. The 0° position for the router had the front facing the chamber antennas.

Both cores scale independently between 384 - 1700 MHz according to CPU load. tc qdisc add dev nssifb parent 1: handle 10: nssfq_codel limit 10240 flows 1024 quantum 1514 target 5ms interval 100ms set_default To see how idiot-proof it is, I tried plugging the cable leading from my Virgin Super Hub (acting as modem) into the standard Ethernet ports, rather than the one intended for the internet feed. Sure enough, the wizard suggested this as one of only a few potential issues. If you are building for one type of router you can change the first section of the diffconfig on github to just one device if you are building for a particular model (delete all the routers you don’t want to build for, follow the instructions below after the # sign): only thing i'm seeing in the logs currently is this: [62665.535785] ath10k_pci 0001:01:00.0: received unexpected tx_fetch_ind event: in push mode As with MU-MIMO, I’m sure there is plenty of tuning to be done to get the most out of 160 MHz mode. Once again, there is plenty of time to do this since I know of no devices in the wild with working 160 MHz mode and neither NETGEAR nor QCA volunteered a list of any. Closing Thoughts Although the R7800 is not being sold any more and is succeeded by the XR500 which is FCC identical and and can be regarded as a rebranded R7800 (with double the amount of Flash Ram and the new DumaOS), the R7800 is still a very capable router and can be found second hand.
