About this deal

The RM850x is a definite improvement compared to its predecessor, offering ALPM support and a better fan. The new RM850x is noisier at high RPM, so overall noise output has notably increased. Still, you cannot call the new RM850x loud, but it lost the title of the quietest 850W Gold unit that its predecessor had. I prefer the ML fan over the FDB one since it is more reliable, especially at high operating temperatures. After almost three years in production, Corsair decided to update its popular RMx line. There are again five members with capacities ranging from 550 W to 1000 W. All are fully modular, and the OEM is still Channel Well Technology. Listed below are the crucial changes over the RMx 2018 units with the RMx 2021 revision: CORSAIR RM850x Series power supplies with EPS12V connectors are built with the highest quality components to deliver 80 PLUS Gold efficient power to your PC. RM850x PSUs use only I don't know the full changes off the top of my head and I'm about to head to bed, but I know they changed the enclosure and fan grill to update the design to match corsair's other recent products, swapped the rifle bearing fan for their maglev fan. Depending on the wattage some of the 2021 RMx have an extra EPS12V cable.

Zero RPM Fan Mode: At low and medium loads the cooling fan switches off entirely for near-silent operation. The RMx line has a deserved reputation for premium ripple suppression. For this reason, Corsair adds cable-integrated capacitors to the main ATX, CPU and PCIe cables. your computer faster and consume less power with support for Modern Standby sleep mode. Zero RPM mode ensures virtually silent operation at low and medium loads. Fully modular A 160mm-long casing ensures an easy fit in almost all modern enthusiast PC cases. TEN-YEAR WARRANTY

GPUs that require 3 cables are fine running on two pigtail cables, connected to the 3 PCIE connexions.

The combined power for the +3.3V is 150 W, while the +12V has a combined power output of 850 W. The +5V also has a combined power of 150 W. The combined power for the -12V is 9.6 W, and the +5Vsb has a combined power of 15 W. Magnetic Levitation Fan: Utilizes a magnetic levitation bearing and custom engineered rotors for high performance, low noise, and superior reliability. More compact size, uses a 120mm fan instead of 135mm, different manufacturer and design, cheaper non-Japanese capacitors, lower temperature rating 40°C vs 50°C on the RMx, shorter warranty. Marketed as being "Low noise" it's actually no better than the other RM/RMx units, scoring A- in Cybenetics noise testing which is the same as the RMx 2021 and worse than the 2018 RMx which is A+ noise rating. Most likely due to using a more compact design and a smaller 120mm fan than the 135mm fans in the RMx/RM units. As before, five sensible capacities ply the range - 550W, 650W, 750W, 850W, 1,000W - and certification stays at 80 PLUS Gold. Let's focus on what is new.Resonant LLC topology with DC-to-DC conversion provides clean, consistent power, reduces coil whine for quieter operation, and enables use of more energy efficient Thanks for that very informative post. Do you know what has changed with the V2 revision of the newer RM850x?
