About this deal

The Explorer. Illustrated by Hannah Horn. Bloomsbury Publishing, 1 September 2017. ISBN 9781408854877 [29] It isn't easy being the rather overlooked and unhappy youngest sibling to sisters named for the other six days of the week. Sunday's only comfort is writing stories, although what she writes has a terrible tendency to come true... Paris presents them with its own difficulties to overcome, but Sophie soon discovers new allies on the rooftops who can help her with her quest. First, there’s Matteo, a boy who walks tightropes and sleeps under a blanket made of pigeon feathers at night, and then there are his friends Anastasia and Safi, two wild girls who live in the top of Paris’s tallest trees. Racing across the rooftops of the city with only an elusive cello melody to follow, and her new friends to help her, Sophie is determined to find her mother before it is too late.

My main complaint is that the ending was rather abrupt and didn't exactly fit the flow of the story. Also at one point Charles tells Sophie that keeping secrets from him is okay (idk exactly what he means by that) which isn't exactly something you'd want your kid doing so..... Other than that, I loved the whimsical feeling to the story and the children who live on rooftops (especially Matteo who was so cute 🥰) Ieri sono stata sveglia fino alle due di notte per finire questa meraviglia ❤ Una favola assolutamente perfetta in questo periodo, una storia che parla di amore, amicizia, coraggio, speranza e legami indissolubili... Un romanzo che venera le mamme sopra ogni cosa. PerchéThey told me that she was dead, and I didn’t believe them. Why did she believe it? Why didn’t she keep looking?" A rare and remarkable treat, witty and full of original thoughts … This quirky book advocates curiosity, thoughtfulness, freedom and courage At the start of the novel, she resists Miss Eliot's ideas about how young Victorian girls should behave. It’s a mystery that drives the story, but the characters of the determined Sophie and bookish Charles are easy to love, which really makes the story as good as it is. The idea of “rooftoppers”, the people who live on roofs, jumping from rooftop to rooftop, is interesting, and it’s fun to follow Sophie as she becomes tangled up with the rooftoppers.

Birds are used to symbolise freedom. In particular, pigeons are closely associated with Matteo as they both live on the rooftops. Matteo uses the pigeons’ feathers and meat to help him survive independently. This is an adventure story about a daring girl, called Sophie, who plays cello. She stowed away on a train, then a boat, to Paris, in France. When she arrived, she has an urge to clamber onto the roof. When she finally did, she met a gang of Rooftoppers and started her search for one of the most vital things in life: her loving mother. I found it %F0%9F%98%85, or in other words hooking!Sophie doesn't tell Charles she's going on the roofs even though he told her to stay in her room. Recommended ages 10+ for violence, alcohol, and language. ON THE MORNING OF ITS FIRST BIRTHDAY, a baby was found floating in a cello case in the middle of the English Channel.
