About this deal

You can fly by switching to attitude mode, but you cannot fly at a fixed point (drift may occur), and cannot support the return function, etc. It is not recommended to fly in attitude mode. Its flight times are impressive considering the battery capacity is only 2500 mAh. Roku claims flight times of up to 28 minutes, and during testing in winter temperatures, it lasted around 20 minutes. The batteries are, unfortunately, slow to charge – like many that are directly charged via USB. Roku suggests that charging takes up to 4.5 hours. This is a long time to wait, so you have to be organized and plan your flights in advance. When the remote control lost connection with the drone for about 5 seconds, the drone will start to return home automatically. With a weight of 19.72 oz/559 g, you can’t take advantage of the fewer regulations that come with sub 250 g drones. This means that you can’t fly the Ruko F11GIM2 as close to people and built-up areas, which is why beginners are often attracted to smaller and lighter models to make day-to-day flying easier and less restrictive.

Ruko Support - Ruko

The Ruko F11 GIM2 beginner drone has its strengths and weaknesses. It's somewhat heavy, and the camera performance is okay at best, but it's easy enough to fly, and thanks to the spare battery and carry case included in the price, it's a decent value-for-money proposition. Those serious about adventure will love the GPSMAP 66i’s features, but it’s likely overkill for everyone else Ruko claims the drone has a range of almost 3km which is very impressive. Another advantage of a slightly larger drone like this is it’s easier to see further away. On a clear day I could just about spot it 130m from me. So I can’t confirm whether it can achieve even close to its maximum range under our local flight restrictions in the UK, where the drone has to be visible at all times. But in all my test flights I never lost communication between the controller and drone, and the live video feed to my phone worked very well. Battery life was better than I was expecting and having a spare battery is very useful. Although I really would have liked faster charging – ideally I’d want to be able to charge a spare battery while I’m flying with the other battery. The F11GIM2 camera is extremely basic and apart from the ability to change the video resolution, all settings are applied automatically. This may appeal to some users who would prefer to focus on flight, but those with a greater understanding of photography and video settings may be frustrated. To power off the controller you press the power button once and then again holding it down. There’s also a dedicated return to home button and around the front dedicated buttons for recording photos and videos. If you tap on the microphone icon you can capture audio with your videos. The drone doesn’t have a microphone – this just uses your phone’s microphone. Also the higher quality videos on the SD card won’t have audio – only the lower quality videos captured on your phone. There’s a fair bit of lag so don’t try and use it where you want lip sync. But it’s still a useful feature. The drone ships with the controller, two batteries, a set of spare propellers and screws, and two charging cables. You’ll need to provide your own USB power supply. Ruko User Manual - Ruko

I learned the hard way that's only partially the case. As the F11 GIM2 took off, it started wobbling, moving around in larger and larger swings. In an attempt to stabilise it, I started fiddling with the controls, but I couldn't stop the movement, and the drone flew into the wall, damaging one of the rear arms in the process.F11GIM2 is not recommended to fly in attitude mode, as the inability to fly at a fixed point will make it difficult to operate the drone) You don’t have to use your smartphone to fly the drone but you’ll get lots more information on your drone and its flight, access to all the automated flight modes and most importantly the live video feed from the drone’s camera.

axis mechanical stabilization gimbal (pitch, roll) + third-axis EIS electronic stabilization technology I can’t tell you how nice it is to know that if the drone runs low on battery or flies out of range or loses connection with the controller, it will automatically return to where it took off. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the drone paired with the controller and phone easily. Apple’s second-generation rugged watch might look familiar, but there are plenty of upgrades under the hood If you’re looking for a drone simply to enjoy flying, the Ruko F11GIM2 is reasonably powerful and generally flies well despite the small amount of drift. If capturing photos and videos is your main reason for purchasing a drone, there are better options available for roughly the same price, alongside less expensive models capable of delivering comparable image quality, but with less power. If the Ruko F11GIM2 isn't for you

There are two batteries and Ruko quotes 28 minutes flying time for each battery, so as long as you’re prepared you should still have plenty of flight time. It comes with two 2,500 milliamp-hour batteries that can each provide up to 28 minutes of flying time. The batteries take about 4.5 hours to recharge via USB-C.

Then turn on the controller with the power button. The first press shows the battery remaining and the second press turns it on. The controller and drone will automatically link with each other which takes up to 40s and the display on the controller will switch from connecting to cal compass. To calibrate the compass first rotate the drone horizontally 1-2 turns. Then vertically with the camera pointing upwards. You’ll get a confirmation beep when this is completed and the front and rear LEDs will stop flashing purple. You have to do this every time you turn the drone on. Two things that the Ruko F11 GIM2 has going for it are flight stability and anti-shake. Although I found it hard to control the angle of the camera smoothly, thanks to the heavier, more wind-resistant body and the EIS anti-shake tech, the videos aren't as shaky as some similar footage captured with smaller drones. At its price point, the Ruko F11 Gim 2 drone is regarded as one of the best camera drones available. Its 4K camera can produce stunning videos, and the 2-axis gimbal stabilization and the electronic image stabilization work efficiently to ensure stable shots when taking videos. The drone is also strong and long-lasting, capable of withstanding winds up to level 7. When using the brushless motor, the drone’s wind resistance is increased by 20 percent, and the flight time can be increased by 15 percent.

It is recommended to charge and discharge once a month, maintain 50-60% of the electricity, and the battery should be stored in a cool environment and avoid high temperature exposure.Never charge the battery immediately after it is used, wait until it cools down to home temperature. The controller display shows most of the same information as the app. But you also see the remote control signal strength, the speed mode and a larger display of the drone’s battery level. The drone itself has a considerably straightforward design and is foldable, making it easier to transport it around. The included carry case is also a handy accessory, allowing you to haul the F11 GIM2 in the most convenient fashion possible. One thing I found strange is that the carry case handle is on the bottom of the carry case, so to speak, meaning it's pretty easy for everything to fall out of it if you forget to zip it all the way up. When completely charged, it has a flying duration of roughly 56 minutes. It also has two batteries, allowing users to fly for twice as long as before. The Ruko F11 Gim 2 drone can be used both indoors and outdoors, but once you’ve begun using it, it’s suggested that you take your time getting acquainted with the controls.
