About this deal

Part of the Distillery Reserve Collection, this non chill-filtered 12 year old Scapa cask strength single malt Scotch whisky was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2015 at 58.5% ABV. There are events taking place all over the world celebrating this oak-aged spirit, including tastings and guided tours. Whiskybase B.V. is the Dutch private limited liability company, having its statutory seat in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and its office at Zwaanshals 530, 3035 KS Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Whiskybase B.V. is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under no. 52072819. Scapa Glansa arrives in a nice display box (not shown) which piques the interest of the consumer. There is just enough information on the box to keep that interest growing, and inside the box the whisky is held in a medium tall bottle with attractive labeling. The bottles are closed with high density cork stoppers which give me that nice satisfying ‘pop’ when I open them. In the Glass 8/10

Laurent Perrier vs Aldi? Wine expert reveals favourite alternatives to the real deal – and they’re all cheaper too Nose: Delicate scented floral flavours with a hint of fresh pear. Sweet and fruity pineapple notes with a citrus tang. Nose: Runny honey and fresh cream. Hints of apple and a touch of anise. Maybe some crushed nuts, too... Goodbye Scapa 16 Year Old: Parting is Such Peat Sorrow". The Whiskey Wash. 5 July 2016 . Retrieved 10 October 2021.To be honest I struggle to detect any smoke or peat, however it has a very pleasant balance and is well made. Price is fair, this is much better than (for instance) Highland Park 12, but obviously cannot match HP 18 which sells at 2.5 x the price. Shame Scapa is 16 no long made.

Scapa Glansa Scotch Whisky : The Whisky Exchange

A rare single cask 1980 distillation of Scapa from independent bottling company The Scottish malt whisky society titled "What a way to start the day" implying that this would make a perfect breakfast whisky? Mouth: very soft, not to say watery. Mid-palate a nice fruitiness appears (more crisp apple and juicy pear) with lemon peels and a bit of honey and butterscotch sweetness. Then malty notes appear, as well as some plankish wood and green tea. Very loosely we may put my scores into terms that you may be more familiar with on a Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal scale as follows:Regardless of whether the Service offers the functionality to contribute, you are solely responsible and liable for any content and information that you create, upload, post, publish, link to, duplicate, transmit, record, display or otherwise make available on the Service or to other Members, such as chat messages, text messages, videos, audio, audio recordings, music, pictures, photographs, text and any other information or materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted (“Contributions”). Now onto Scapa Glansa which also screams don’t be scared of single malt whisky! As it’s only finished in casks that previously held peated whisky, it may well be the most inoffensive smoky whisky. Bottling it at 40% ABV doesn’t help of course.
