About this deal

The LetShuoer S12 Pro has a nicely highlighted treble tuning that is shown with a decent sense of presence in the lower treble region, which is able to produce an efficient level of clarity and definition. The transitions from the upper midrange towards the lower treble region are relative smooth and controlled when I do listen to electro guitars or to soprano voices. While there are no protruding or awkward edges, the S12 Pro’s nozzles are pretty short. Thus, those with bigger ears may encounter the shell pressing on the concha, leading to slight discomfort, especially when it comes to longer listening sessions. YMMV. Internals

There are voices that speculate that both models have the same planar magnetic driver. After all, both models graph identically up to 2 kHz, and the differences above are just minor variations, possibly caused by the different housings. And some of the sonically perceived differences can be the product of the interactions between housings and our conchas. The overall tuning is balanced and natural with good sub-bass extension, an even mid-range and a well extended but not fatiguing treble. Of course you might be more sensitive than I am to this region but you should remember that I don't like bright, unforgiving and analytical stuff and the S12 PRO is not.

Sound

Behind the (strange) name, two senior engineer: Danny To, ex engineer for Panasonic and sales director of a multinational technology company, and Jeff Wong, ex-head of Dah Chong Hong Group and Department director of ZhongSheng Group. Big heads, frustrated not to get their ideal sound, who decided to open up a company and create their own products – you know the drill. shuoer-S12-14-8mm-Planar-Magnetic-Driver-IEM-Hi-Fi-Earphones-with-Silver-Plated-Monocrystalline-Copper.jpg_Q90.jpg_.webp 800×800 66 KB The S12’s better mid-bass composure may trigger a chain effect in that the midrange is not masked and therefore clearer. Its transition from bass to lower midrange is much smoother compared the abrupt change in the Timeless…which results in a much more cohesive, balanced sound…which is the dealmaker/breaker for me. Planar magnetic headphones are popular because of their characteristic sound, but they have been traditionally overpriced and underperforming. They have therefore largely enjoyed a life in the shade. S12 is Hi-Fi Earphones to creat for music lovers. Whatever its neat and fashion design or its sound effect is strictly polished. It will be your best companion for daily music hours.

LETSHUOER S12 Review — Headfonics

Mid - that's where most of the issues come from; mids are very much recessed and thin sounding, without a proper body, synthetic. Male vocals are usually too quiet and dark. I also spotted a place in Mozart's Violin Concerto no. 4 where the soloist plays arpeggios from the G string up to the E string - the dynamics in the recording and in the score remain the same throughout the passage, yet S12 makes them variable (G string being the weakest and darkest, E being overly bright and louder). I'm a violinist and believe me, this 'Leduc' Guarneri is PERFECTLY balanced. It's such a shame how much the S12 interferes with the perfomer's intentions. The same goes for the IMR EDP and EDP Ace, again like the I3s, the EDPs have been overshadowed by the S12 Pros for me. The EDP Ace however, comes fairly close with its DD bass and the note decay probably aided by piezo, the Planar Magnetic driver, if not the design of the chamber. After the Sub-Bass region, we get into the region known as the Bass or Mid-Bass. This region consists of CHI-FI competitors subsequently caught on – like a shark smelling blood – and had a FOMO (fear of missing out). They tried to muscle in on the planar pie, releasing the LETSHUOER S12, LETSHUOER Z12, Tin P1 Max, TRN Kirin, Muse HIFI Power, Moondrop Stellaris, CCA PLA13, KZ PR1 Balanced, and KZ PR1 HIFI.The first audible difference you will hear is that the TiN HiFi P2 needs a lot more power to be driven properly, while the LetShuoer S12 is much easier to driver.

The lower midrange of the LetShuoer S12 shows a good sense of depth and body, which is an advantage for male voices. Male vocals such like Dave Gahan, Sting or Elton John do sound pretty intimate and emotional, while the level of clarity is decent. Instruments like violas, acoustic guitars or bassoons are reproduced in a pretty clean and detailed manner. The aluminum housings are pretty minimalistic and feature a matte finish. Build quality is top-notch. The shells are fashioned from a five-axis CNC (computer numerical control) process, with a small L and R circle on the housings denoting the left and right sides respectively.

Sensitivity/Drivability

get harsh. This region is where we have brittleness from instruments like the Hi-Hats and Cymbals. This is also a Planar IEMs seem to be what's hot nowadays. With just about every manufacturer using a type of planar magnetic driver for IEMs. For LETSHUOER, the planar IEM is not new but it is always a good sign for a manufacturer to reevaluate a design and improve a release for their audience. Overall Impressions: As you can probably tell from the frequency breakdown, the S12 is actually quite similar to the 7Hz Timeless. It offers a bit more warmth in the low and and brightness in the treble, while the mids are probably the closest between the three registers. For my personal taste, however, I find that the S12’s frequency tweaks and improved resolution tip it over the top and make it a more enjoyable listen overall.

Shuoer S12 - Reddit My thoughts on the planar FOTM - the Shuoer S12 - Reddit

Explore the various tips to see what suits your preference, as tips are as personal as shoes due to our different ear anatomies. Cable soundstage + fit clearly goes to the s12, when @Rikudou_Goku mentioned the timeless had like a soundstage/imaging that was entirely in the front that’s what i was experiencing without realising it on the timeless. I don’t think the s12 has particularly good soundstage/imaging just not particularly awful (although obviously mixed reports) The midrange is lush with sublime goodness, but are not forward (which for me makes them relaxing) again that also depends on your pairing. The highs are sparkly with great extension but do not get out of line to my ears, no sibilance. Here there is some consistency across amps and DACs, the highs do not change much with power. Next, if you go from 300 Hz up to 1000 kHz, this is known as the Lower Midrange, and this is a crucial region for Instruments on the other hand, such like a cross drum, trumpet or bass guitar are reproduced with a good amount of intensity and with an efficient level of detail and speed, which fulfils my expectation from a product at this price level.

CONCLUSION

The upper midrange of the S12 is more highlighted and detailed compared to the lower midrange. Female vocals like Adel, Diana Krall or Edith Piaf are reproduced in a pretty lively, emotional and detailed way. The energetic upper midrange tuning creates a vivid and transparent overall midrange atmosphere, while only soprano voices can do sound a little bit sibilant and energy loaded from time to time when I do listen at higher volume levels. It is extremely difficult to say how engaging the S12 Pros are to my ears. It is not simply a question of pumping loud music at you. It is the quality of the melodic presentation of music. The S12 Pros does good presentation so beautifully. Notes on all instruments sound more complete. In the S12 Pros you can dissect the music, or just relax and immerse yourself in your music, and let the music take you places. Shuoer S12 is a very energetic IEM with fun V-shaped tuning, that has a lot of balance issues. It is an exceptionally engaging and detailed pair of earphones if you're mostly going to listen to electronic instruments, however it is really garbage in acoustic music, so consider your needs carefully, versatility isn't a strong side of the S12.
