About this deal

This was quite good. My only real complaint was that the author released the information of that summer VERY slowly. On the other hand, it built suspense rather well. This author has a good writing style, and I will be watching for more of her books. I returned from Cairo to London obsessed with all things ancient and Egyptian. I learned to read hieroglyphs and began to haunt the British Museum like a very tall, notebook-wielding spectre. I discovered that the museum occasionally hosts sleepovers in its Ancient Egyptian sculpture gallery, a thrilling opportunity for children and an absolute gift to an author of adventure fiction. The author does a killer job of creating riveting suspense and oh, so many twists, and red herrings, keeping you guessing until the end. She really dives deep into the mind of an evil monster. I enjoyed Hannah, Liam, and Josh's characters.

The Best Sleepover in the World (Hardback) - Waterstones

I did not enjoy the conclusion at all. I thought it was far fetched even for these kind of thriller books and again had we known the characters more earlier in the book then any surprises at the end would have had more meaning. Everything changed that summer twenty years ago. From past to present, the monster had said that as children, no one would believe them. She was wrong. The monster had been taken way to prison. Now she was getting out. The monster was being freed, and they knew she or her son, Bill, would come after them for revenge—they were responsible for putting her behind bars.I really struggled to finish this book and have to say that it seemed to be marketed under the wrong genre. It was more a YA book I think. The mother was an unrealistic character and the situations she found herself in were just as unlikely

Hannah is worried and anxious about having to return to Hixton for her parent's upcoming anniversary. Her mom wants her to stay over, and the idea haunts her. The past is resurfacing. For fans of Harlan Coben, Miranda Rijks, and K. L. Slater. If you are looking for an eerie, sinister, frightening, creepy, and terrifying read, this is it! You may want to leave the lights on. As well as winning many awards for her books, including the Children's Book of the Year, Jacqueline is a former Children's Laureate, and in 2008 she was appointed a Dame. The premise had me hooked and I knew I needed to read it. It was a pretty good book, it kept me hooked trying to figure out what happened. All of Daisy's friends in the Alphabet Club - Amy, Bella, Chloe and Emily - have had sleepovers for their birthdays. Daisy has a dilemma. She'd love to have a sleepover too, but then she'd have to let her friends meet her sister This is another reread for me, and I think I originally read it some time in 2008. According to Goodreads, my star rating for when I made my account was 2 stars, so I was intrigued to find out why that was and if my thoughts had changed. As well as winning many awards for her books, including the Children’s Book of the Year, Jacqueline is a former Children’s Laureate, and in 2008 she was appointed a Dame. Amy, Bella, Chloe, Daisy and Emily are friends at school and have their own Alphabet Club (just look at their initials!). Daisy is the newest member and is desperate to fit in, even though Chloe is distinctly unfriendly to her at times. Throughout Daisy's first year at the school, the girls plan ever-more elaborate sleepover parties for their birthdays. Daisy is dreading the time when her birthday comes round as she doesn't know what her friends will make of sleeping over at her home, with her rather special older sister...

Daisy semakin menyukai teman-teman barunya. Namun dia merasa kurang nyaman jika berada di dekat Chloe. Chloe tries to not invite Daisy to her sleepover party by falsely claiming "her Mum won't let her have four invites", but Emily, Amy and Bella refuse to come unless Daisy comes too, causing an argument between them. In the end Chloe gives in and lets Daisy come. At Chloe's party they make pizzas but Chloe sabotages Daisy's pizza by covering it with anchovies which Daisy hates - she then says that they'll make sure Daisy's piece of birthday cake has a special anchovy filling when it comes to cake time, which causes Daisy to decline to eat any. They then watch very scary horror movies which causes Daisy to stay awake all night in fear.

Pesta Menginap (Sleep-Overs) ini bercerita tentang lima gadis SD bersahabat yang secara kebetulan namanya berurut sesuai abjad. I know these type of books are showing someone at the worst time in their lives but I really struggled with the characters in this one. The friends were adventurous—entering their teenage years, they liked to explore. They were innocent. UNTIL the monster. HER. When strange things start happening with notes, flowers, a music box, and things only Rosie and Hannah would understand. They are fearful either Eileen or Bill is trying to teach them a lesson. However, no one can find Eileen. The Hixton five are: Hannah, Rosie, Jill, Tasha, and Lauren. Some have moved on, but Rosie and Hannah are still dealing with what happened. Speaking of which, what did happen? The author will keep you guessing for most of the book.
