About this deal

Thayer and Salem are the cutest couple ever. Thayer is a hottie and is super loveable. I love him he is definitely one of my new book boyfriends. if you are the author of this book DO NOT read this review as you will not like anything that will be said here.

When we begin to live like wildflowers, we put so much of our hearts into blossoming even in the most hostile surroundings.” I cannot wait to see Salem and Thayer’s story continue in the next book. And I hope we get to see some of Thayer’s POV.

The Confidence of Wildflowers by Micalea Smeltzer Summary

For fans of Lucy Score and Colleen Hoover, a heart-wrenching contemporary romance about a young woman with a traumatic past who falls for the single dad next door. I felt absolutely heartbroken when her mother confesses that she has breast cancer, but I was glad when she survived the chemo and surgery though it seemed unfair for a woman who went through hell to have to go through this too. The plot-twist caught me off guard even though there was foreshadowing and I kind of had the gut feeling that something was going to happen. I could do with a little bit of a break," she said, looking longingly at the soft, moss-covered braes above the tinkling water. Nothing happens in this book. It's ALL repetitive. No drama. Same dialogues, same inner monologues being repeated. (I skimmed through the last 20% and I have no regrets).

I was going to give this book 1 star, but the ending made me give 0 (if possible). I can't express my hatred for that devastating and unnecessary situation, and especially how the heroine handled it, I've honestly never met a character as selfish as her, the way she compared the pain of both, and how she wanted him to choose her in that moment that he had lost so and was completely broken. The prince made a big show of cautiously surveying the scene. Aurora Rose hid a smile. Nothing seemed harmful. "All right," he finally said. "My face could definitely do with a wash. Feels all dusty." made a home gym for salem to work out in, so she wouldn't go out for late-night runs by herself! (he also ran with her at first) Micalea Smeltzer’s The Confidence of Wildflowers is a tale of unexpected love, age-gap romance, and the tumultuous journey of two souls finding solace in each other’s company. As I sat down to review this book, I realized that it left me with a whirlwind of emotions, making it challenging to distill my thoughts into a coherent review. This book is an intricate dance between heartache and hope, and it’s one that I won’t soon forget. I really went into this story thinking that it was going to be a nice steamy read with a few hiccups along the way and I have to say that I’m so glad that I was wrong. This turned out to be so much more and aside from that gut punch that I’m still feeling and not having this told in dual pov, I enjoyed it. I’m going to be on pins and needles waiting for the final book because not only do we need answers from that cliffhanger, I need an HEA for my sanity! The beginning was very slow. The real story truly starts at like 30% mark, other than that you just get to know Salem a little bit better.

The writing is not the best…it’s very jumpy. It gets’ better but there could be improvement. Also, I was scared because I felt like all type of cliches in age gap romance will be thrown here and it has so many tropes that I feel that is hard not to put the traditional cliche of the tropes if that makes sense. That vibe was definitely there. A heartbreakingly beautiful read. I cried so much towards the end.😭😭 Kudos to the author for being a heart breaker. Salem is 18 and doesn't really know what she wants to do, but is currently content living in her small town and making candles. Thayer is a 31-year old recently-divorced single dad and her new grumpy neighbour. I thought this book would maybe be more of a slow burn as I assumed there would be a lot of grovelling on both Thayer’s side (for how he treated her before their break up) and from Salem’s side (for keeping their daughter a secret) but by 30% both characters forgave each other, and very easily at that.

I should’ve DNFd this book honestly, because nothing happens in the 70% that follows. Literally nothing. The rest of the book is Thayer and Salem having their HEA. It felt like an unnecessarily long epilogue. Strive in stride like the resilient wildflowers that begin each day by turning to face the rolling sunrise.

If I’m be honest, this story didn’t go at all how I thought it would. Book one ended in so much heartbreak, and book 2 fixes all of that. This story focus’ more on the growth of the characters. Seeing the characters finally get to be happy. There are still some triggers in book 2 but not nearly as heartbreaking.

Abusers don’t deserve tears. When the last flower was placed on the casket, and it was all over, I didn’t cry. I smiled.” Quoting Thayer, "Who we used to be doesn't matter, it's who we are now, what's in our hearts that matters most. You're sunshine, Salem, but even the sun doesn't always shine." THIS🤌🤌🤌 Salem has Caleb who has been her boyfriend for a few years and her best friend but they are growing apart and spend most of the summer before he heads to Harvard apart (mostly because his mother makes it happen via different ways) and Salem cannot help but feel something extremely deep with Thayer and that leads to them sleeping with each other while she is still with Caleb, she goes to his dorm room the next day and ends their relationship - opting out of telling him about Thayer. My guy then goes on to say, "I'm not bright like you, but I promise, when your days are dark, I'll be your light." 😭😭❤️ Staring at his once emaciated form in the casket puffed up with fillers and whatever magic the mortician worked, I didn’t cry.
