About this deal

I would never, ever recommend this to anyone based on interest in sadomaschism. If a character, who is a grownass woman, is going to say, in all seriousness, that what she wants from a relationship would scare her love interest away, that she scares herself sometimes... Then she better not just be talking about a bloody 24h M/s relationship, good lord! It's just not that dark, fellas! Welcome to my twisted mind. I liked the Oedipus element, the implication that Agnes will stab her eyes out after her girlfriend leaves her like her mother did. However, it was both underutilised and over-explained. But the story isn’t just parroting genre conventions. The form is familiar, but its narrative is ground-breaking in its exploration of the darker side of online queer ‘safe’ spaces. It is a skillful interplay between the intense psychological trauma of its characters, the sexual simulacrum of online dating, and the unfeeling bureaucracy of legal paperwork – a juxtaposition similarly explored by Nat Ogle’s 2021 novel In the Seeing Hands of Others. This is a wonderful collection that looks at the various shades of the human condition, it is a collection that holds a mirror up to society, to those of us that feel unseen, or are too damaged to believe anyone can see us and our plight - it’s a collection of stories about connection and belonging, about love and destruction about all the many faceted things we humans do for love, life and survival - and in the end what we become. Bodies Are For Burning - An aunt, with a penchant for burning things, fears what she will do when she is left to care for her toddler niece.

It begins with a divorced couple and their disturbed son and ends up on an island in Batsh*t Insane territory. I still have no clue what happened. This collection also includes two other short stories: THE ENCHANTMENT and YOU’LL FIND IT’S LIKE THAT ALL OVER. While I didn’t love the former (3⭐️), I did really enjoy the latter (5⭐️) and thought it was another extremely effective short story. A married couple Vince and Terry are at the park with their son Philip when a couple approach them - Lyric and Melody who want to play a little game. Let's take a stroll through the mind of the gifted, creative, and twisted writer: Eric LaRocca. I hope I can come out unscathed on the other side. If not, then I hope it only hurts a little. Time will tell....http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Literature/ThingsHaveGottenWorseSinceWeLastSpoke Follow ing Literature / Every family has a myth for the young to inherit – an undocumented fable passed between mouths, a grave illness to be contracted – as if the very words were a blight to infect the youth with and let them know they’re now welcome to the fold. Please Leave Or I'm Going To Hurt You - Um. Hmm. Ahh. Huh. LaRocca has rendered me speechless. Let's just say this is a taboo love story and leave it at that.

What is actually happening (although Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke cannot be labelled as “Torture Porn”) are new techniques in audience immersion. Constant franchises and ridiculous kill counts have cheapened a genre that relies on audience participation in a way that most other genres do not. LaRocca, through their construction of their novella, shows a deep insight into this ongoing debate and is instinctually correct to bring it into the written word. My Response to the Novella It took a while for me to realize what had occurred. It was brief and had a depressing message about love and death. I adore the images used here. This book spoke to me as soon as I’ve seen the cover. It’s grotesque but beautiful at the same time. That may sound weird but it contains something that is very appealing to the eyes. Comparing this story to the earlier ones is kind of somber. I can't say much without giving anything away, but it does put you in a difficult situation. he couldn't help but allow his mind to consider the possibilities of entertaining the notion that it could possibly be human.' YOU'LL FIND IT'S LIKE THAT ALL OVER is the weird tale of a man who finds a bone in his yard. The bone leads him down a strange path, involving the man's racist spouse and his foreign neighbor. It also involves a lot of betting. Sounds weird, right? This tale is so off beat, yet completely satisfying. Therein the problem lies with me and weird fiction. I like weird, but I also want a conclusion to the story. For me a lot of supposedly great weird fiction stories have fallen flat..sometimes it's like there's no story at all. It drives me crazy. That is not the case with Eric LaRocca. Domestic Abuse: Zoe initially sets herself up as a Dominatrix, promising to take care of Agnes as long as the latter remains her slave. However, as the story unfolds her actions appear closer to this trope. Not quite played straight, as by the end Agnes and Zoe never meet each other in real life.
