About this deal

The libraries all either say it's mature or for like 15 years old and up but really it's not even that mature. I do feel like adults like to exaggerate the amount of graphicness in books like these because they don't want their kids to know about these things because they feel like they're too young to be exposed to these kinds of things. Get started Close Celaena is a trained assassin, the best of her kind, but she made a fatal mistake. She got caught. Young Captain Westfall offers her a deal: her freedom in return for one huge sacrifice. Celaena must represent the prince in a to-the-death tournament - fighting the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land. Live or die, Celaena will be free. Win or lose, she is about to discover her true destiny. But will her assassin's heart be melted? About This Edition ISBN: Step into the world of the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas with this collection of prequel novellas. As I am writing this review, I realize now that I never read The Assassins’s Blade, which is a collection of stories set before the first Throne of Glass novel introduced us to Celaena and her story. In hindsight, I realize how that there were many references to those stories in the final book, and I wish now that I had read those books before I finished the final book. Do you recommend the Throne of Glass series?

Popular author Maggie Stiefvater is in top form in what is arguably her most complex and ambitious book to date, and the first in a magical new series. No, it’s not. It’s very violent and chances are they are going to want to read more books in the series. It depends on their maturity but I wouldn’t want my 10 year old sibling to read this. As children they will break down everything they read and won’t stop thinking about it. Unless they have a clear idea on what sex and violence is like, wait a bit to read. There are still some gore filled scenes. Probably wouldn’t want a child to be reading of people getting their heads chopped off very vividly. Having said that, all children are different and only you know your child. I wouldn't let my 12 year old read this - and not only because of the sexual content. The relationship between the two main characters, and consensual sex that occurs as the result of a loving connection that's described (not in explicit detail) isn't the issue. The graphic and heart wrenching graphic torture scenes that crop up frequently, especially towards the end, are.

I would say that it really depends on the person who is reading. If they are a sheltered child or younger than eight or nine then they shouldn't read this. YES, GO FOR IT! It’s an amazing series and bound to get you obsessed! Get some juicy stuff and action! SUSPENSE! Oh the suspense.

In a land without magic, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She has no love for the vicious king who rules from his throne of glass, but she has not come to kill him. She has come to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three murderers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she will be released from prison to serve as the King’s Champion. Though the heated descriptions are usually more titillating than graphic, sex is a big part of the story, and it's not just the attraction between Feyre and Tamlin. As the story begins, Feyre's friends-with-benefits relationship with a village boy is ending; Tamlin, being immortal, has had many lovers. A character must play the starring role in a fertility rite, having ritual sex to ensure the year's crops. Well, I mean, it's young adult, so the age group it's targeted at is 12-18. I've read it, and it's a good book (I'm in eighth grade); I have friends in seventh grade and they think it's a good book. So I'd say 12+ but I guess it really depends on the individual reader because I know that I have other friends who are really sensitive to this kind of stuff.

I do find that at a certain age yes they should be shielded from these things but as they grow older you need to give your kid more leeway because they will eventually grow up. It is fine for 6th graders, maybe 5th grade at the youngest. A prequel to the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass, this collection of five novellas explores the history of this cunning assassin and her enthralling-and deadly-world.

Her protagonist is 18 year old Celaena; beautiful but deadly and destined for greatness but only if she can free herself from the life sentence she's serving...
