About this deal

Timemore products are defined by their balance of affordability and functionality. The Chestnut C2 and C3 are two Timemore grinders designed to be both powerful and portable. Their other two notable grinders – the Nano and the Chestnut Slim – market themselves as more travel-friendly versions of the C2 or C3. The Xlite, on the other hand, has a larger burr set that targets high performance.

However, in this day and age, we have seen an explosion of affordable steel-burr grinders with bearings (such as the Timemore C2), and for that reason, it can’t keep up with the competition anymore.Zassenhaus has been making grinders for more than 100 years, so I guess they have learned a thing or two.

Timemore C2 Manual Coffee Grinder Espresso Grinder Stainless

It’s not the lightest weight hand grinder. It is too big to fit inside an Aeropress plunger (the Porlex famously can do that); it isn’t ideal for espresso (though a burr upgrade will fix that). But it’s a pleasure to use, fast to grind, and produces a fantastic grind for drip, pour over, siphon, cloth brewing, Chemex, Aeropress, and press pot. So far, we have been talking a lot about all the geeky details of the C2, but what makes it an exciting piece of kit is where it places itself in the market place. Plastic is also used for the lid cover and adjustment knob, but these places it doesn’t seem out of place in the same way. While espresso grinders are just normal coffee grinders, there are some specific things it must be capable of to grind good espresso grounds. Here are those things; The burr set is made from sharp stainless steel and goes through medium roasted beans like a knife through butter. For the price, it’s reasonable to expect a top product. But the burrs aren’t high-end and do produce a lot of fines. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m also not a fan of forward-motion grinding. But then again, perhaps it’s because I’m more used to the traditional hand grinding. It also depends what you compare it to. If you want to buy a coffee grinder to get away from pre-ground supermarket coffee, the C2 is going to improve your espresso quite dramatically even though it’s suboptimal. Also, what do you expect from your espresso? Are you the type of person that is chasing that ‘perfect’ cup? You’ll want the extra adjustability. Do you just want a ‘decent’ espresso without too much hassle, the TimeMore grinder can do this for you. Bonus info : There’s also a bigger version called “C2 Max”, which has a slightly larger capacity at around 30 grams. In daily use

Really, there’s a reason the Timemore C2 remains popular. Making the Timemore C2 Work For Espresso? It took about 55 seconds to grind this dose, so it’s not a fast espresso grinder, but it’s acceptable. Both the C2 and C3 use stainless steel conical burrs. The kind of burrs in each grinder is the biggest difference between the two. If you’re considering getting a Hario or Porlex grinder, you seriously need to upgrade your budget a tiny bit and get this one instead. Some manual grinders expect you to turn into the Incredible Hulk just to crank out a cupful of grounds. Not the Timemore Chestnut C2.
