About this deal

Beautiful steelbook! Lovely glossy colours and really well chosen pictures to use. The film moments chosen are just a few of the shots that made the audience gasp in the cinema, as you can fully see Mr Cruise is once again, DOING the flying for REAL! The film itself is brilliant and I honestly thought “how can it live up to all the hype?!” Trust me, it does! There’s a reason it’s now amoung the ranks of highest grossing movies ever, it brought a lot of joy to people during the pandemic and especially those 80s kids like me who grew up loving the original! Even if not a big fan of the first movie, I’d put money on the fact you’ll enjoy this one more. Fantastic looking steelbook which looks even better next to the first ones equally beautiful 4K steelbook! I actually prefer the colours used on the Zavvi exclusive over other releases. Grab one if you get the chance! Cleared for Take Off (1080p, 9:15): Focusing on the lifelike aviation sequences, building a film that pushes the medium, rigorous actor Masterclass with Tom Cruise – Cannes Film Festival—Tom Cruise discusses his incredible career at the flagship event of the 75th Cannes Film Festival. Forging The Darkstar—Pushing the limits beyond Mach-10, the future of aviation is unveiled through an impressive experimental aircraft specially designed for the movie. The scene starting at 1:27:16 (1:27:12 on the 2016 BD) is also inherent to the original design, not a sync issue unique to the Atmos mix. While Stinger is briefing the pilots of the "crisis situation" in a full shot, his lip movement does not perfectly match the dialogue, very likely due to poor ADR work, not a failure in the transfer or the codec. This can also be seen and heard in its DTS-HD/Dolby TrueHD counterpart, but it's not as noticeable. The possible reason for why it is more apparent now is due to the higher resolution levels and our relative distance to the character as he speaks; we can better now see James Tolkan's lip movement than in previous video editions.

Finally, it must be said that these are the best scenes of flying ever captured on film. The tour de force climax of the movie leaves viewers emotionally exhausted with giant grins and cheering for more. It ranks up there with the best action sequences in all of film.

The 4K Ultra HD collection also offers a wealth of bonus features, including behind-the-scenes documentaries, interviews with the cast and crew, and additional content that delves deeper into the making of the films. These extras provide valuable insights into the production process and offer fans a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship and dedication that went into creating the Top Gun universe. Hell, even as CG effects improved, fighter plane movies were basically non-existent ( Stealth's a boat-load of flashy fun, but also a Box Office bomb that only further nailed this coffin), leaving Top Gun the defining movie for four decades, and many generations of viewers, becoming so mythical that nobody would even want to try to go near it. the film with the speed, scale, access, intricacy, and intimacy of the aerial maneuvers and photography.
