Like the H4, you can record in different file formats, with a range of MP3 and WAV options, from the cruddiest, media-efficient MP3 to 24-bit, 96kHz WAVs. Usefully, you can record broadcast WAVs, with markers for use when navigating or editing audio files, or burning CDs. All this is recorded to SD card (a 1GB card is included). Four Play?Stereo Mode: Stereo Mode can be used with the built-in X/Y microphones or external mics, and is convenient for recording live performances, acoustic instruments, and more. Using the H4n Pro's built-in XY mics (or external ones), Stereo mode is great for capturing acoustic instruments, dialogue, live performances, and more — covering a broad stereo spectrum while capturing clear, defined sound sources in the center. You can change the angle of the two unidirectional condenser mics from 120 to 90 degrees for a wider or more tightly focused image. Plus, Zoom has included an onboard M-S decoder for mid-side recording with external mics, which lets you adjust the width of the stereo image in post production. In 4-channel mode, you can record with the built-in mics and two external inputs simultaneously, adding lively room ambience to a stereo board mix.

Need some recording device to connect to our Yamaha CL5. was easy configuration to connect and sound was perfectly recorded. I am really quite impressed with this little unit. Not only does it have a solid look/feel, the size is reasonable, and the resulting sound/recordings are well within my expectations. There's plenty more on offer too, from compressors and low‑cut filters, to guitar amp and cabinet emulations (not the most authentic out there, but certainly passable for demo purposes), and distortion and delay‑based effects. The H4n Pro features high performance, low-noise mic preamps with recording resolutions up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The improved noise floor (-120 dBu EIN) captures audio at lower volumes with less noise and fewer artifacts. USB Audio Interface comparable with a 302 or 663 sound devices : not really but it’s not in the same price range, superior to Tascam DR 40 etc - yes definitely

The size of the H4n makes it handy without being too big or too small. The transport buttons are large enough for big fingers. Outputs: Monitor your performance with headphones or connect to external devices using the stereo 1/8” line output with dedicated volume control. Audio was super clear, the battery lasted for the entire session (better part of a day on and off), and it was super easy to carry around. Can't wait to try it out on some other projects. For so many years I was just using a long cable with a solo mic attached to my camera but with this one is just so much better to have it station closer to my subject and get better audio and then just sync it on post or record straight to the video. The controls of the Zoom H4N — particularly those on the side panels — are much more intuitive to use than those of its predecessor, the H4. The quality of the recorded sound is great for a piece of equipment this size. For me this has helped make live recordings a real easy job.Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. Show me the videographer who uses all 32 GB of recording space on one project and I will show you my honest amazement (which may not mean much to you, but for me is harder to come by these days).
