About this deal

The claim is 178° off-angle viewing; the reality is about 120° before colours start washing out and 145° before it is unviewable. Keep your viewing area tight. This panel is only good in the red area (Left) This happens past about 120° – 30° in this illustration. Reflectivity – Pass(able) Overall does a creditable job with sufficient clear voice emphasis (1-4kHz) to make dialogue intelligible. It is not for the hearing impaired. Now to Dolby Atmos Because there’s still a dearth of 4K/ HDR content out there the 6-Series still relies really heavily on its AiPQ Engine to transform HD to 4K content. It does this using three algorithms – one for color, one for clarity and one for contrast – and the results, so far, do seem better than last year.

TCL 55C635K 55-inch QLED Television, 4K Ultra HD, Smart TV

Despite not being incredibly slim, the nearly bezel-less design of the TV is fairly versatile. The legs of the TV can either be placed close together to fit on a smaller table or stand, or can be attached to the outside corners of the TV to give it some more stability. This television is a 4K QLED Smart TV with Google Assistant. If you're unfamiliar with what "QLED" means, it stands for Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode. This technology involves emitting light from a special nanocrystal layer that's applied to the screen, giving it a much more vibrant and accurate picture than other types of TVs on the market today.Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) With this feature, all you have to do is say “Ok Google” into the remote control or your voice assistant of choice (Siri or Alexa), and then search for what you want on your screen! To get things started: go into Settings > Search & Assistant > Voice Control > On-Screen Remote Control and toggle it on. It can support Google Assistant (dedicated mic button on the remote). Alexa and Siri (HomeKit/Airplay 2) require an external smartphone or speaker. Sound – Pass(able)

Meet TCL C635K – the 4K Google TV Designed for a Smart Life

The video processing and upscaling are competent, although not as impressive as some of the more expensive brands. However, the RC630K does a decent job of upscaling lower-resolution content to match the 4K panel, and the processing can help minimise any nasty compression artefacts. The visible threshold for any DeltaE is 3, so the RC630K is certainly in the ballpark, but given there are no real calibration controls it’s impossible to get it any more accurate. Thankfully, the resulting picture is very watchable, with natural-looking colours, and some decent shadow detail. To test the TCL RC630K we used Portrait Displays Calman colour calibration software. TCL RC630K review: Gaming Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 10% of the screen (measured in Nits) Dolby Vision needs at least 1000 nits for a small screen segment. We pushed the screen to the max and got 800 nits in 2% of the screen. It is not bright enough, so you lose quite a lot of definition in shadows and highlights. There is a lot more outgassing in DA Colours are more muted and shadow detail is limited While it does add some brigthness its not DA standard Ditto – this is HDR 10 at best This is more HDR10 standard There’s obviously little in the way of bass extension, and the RC630K will sound strained at higher volumes, but there’s a good sense of width. The inclusion of Dolby Atmos is welcome, and while it can’t work miracles, it gives the audio a greater feeling of dimensionality. What you have to remember is that at this price, all Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos (DA) claims are just about being able to decode the metadata and downmix to the panel and speaker capability. They won’t give you some mythical, marvellous DV/DA experience reserved for top-grade LG OLEDs and some mini-LEDs. In fact, ignore the DV/DA claim! Motion smoothing – Technical Fail but Passable

TCL TV C635K - 4K HDR Pro QLED Android TV with Game Master

HDMI 2.0 eARC 4K@50Hz – not full HDMI 2.1 implementation, e.g., not 120Hz/VRR/ALLM/QMS, so make sure you do not plug other devices into a soundbar The result is that the 6-Series is more closer akin to OLED in terms of brightness and contrast, but has the benefit of using quantum dots, like last year, which means you’ll see a Wide Color Gamut that looks amazing.Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output Overall, the gaming performance is good, with the low input lag resulting in a responsive and enjoyable experience. The 4K images appear detailed, and the 60Hz motion is pleasingly smooth. The colour gamut is punchy, and the HDR tone mapping capable within the limits of the TV.
