Bearing in mind my visual problems, focus and dioptre adjustments seem OK, closest focus about 30 feet (less with my glasses off!). Noticeable pincushion and defocussing off-axis, fringing acceptable. Mechanically it was completely wobbly, nothing fitted properly, the hinge could tilt about 20° up or down. These are the most practical size for modern applications such as bird watching or spectator sport. They give you powerful magnification and bright lenses. The faintest stars visible were 0.1 magnitude fainter than with a standard 12 x 50 medium quality binocular. The hottest ammunition were the tungsten core armor piercing and explosive rounds for the ME-109 fighter plane. Barrels burned out in 2,000 rounds. What about a handheld using the Fuji II 25 x 150 eyepieces and prisms(Porro II), in about 9 x 70 or 10 x 75 or 80?, with objectives with aberrations to balance those of the big, heavy prisms and the existing eyepieces? What would one pay for that? Fontana Blanco Matt are marble-effect, matt porcelain floor tiles. They are light grey in colour with darker grey veins running throughout. Being high quality porcelain these tiles are hard wearing, so will be suitable for use anywhere within your home and can withstand heavy foot traffic areas.

These things will be produced only if demand is perceived. But beating the drum on this has so far not produced any modern production, and has only increased the pressure on the limited supply of the originals.

Filming on the two newly-commissioned 8x60’ series will begin in Greater Manchester this autumn, and further details will be announced in due course.

Original cases are rare and can be worth as much as the binoculars. Early cases were leather. Later ones were made from bakelite. Condition will not be perfect. Ones that are damaged or are not usable as binoculars are best avoided though. The difficulty is that there isn't much to be retained in the case with that 150 grain if you seat to the correct OAL. Which is effectively the same as the OAL used by the Germans in military FMj ball plus that 3mm extra.
