About this deal

The film ends with Lara Jean's reflection on wanting what she has with Peter, regardless of what films say and what stereotypes say about long-distance relationships. She remains optimistic that the distance will offer them the opportunity to keep writing love letters to one another. find other this-related opinions in my FULL REVIEW OF THIS WHOLE ASS SERIES, here: https://emmareadstoomuch.wordpress.co... Also, was I suppose to care about LJ and Peter's relationship? Was I suppose to root for them to stay together? Because the only salvageable part of this entire book was towards the end and they predictably broke up. When that happened I was pretty much like

Always and Forever, Lara Jean - Wikipedia

His family found him, still and cold, covered in leaves, beneath an oak tree. With sadness, they carried him home. In a lot of series we get to know more and more about the protagonist through the series but in this trilogy I feel like we’ve learnt most of the things about her in the first book and instead we’ve joined her in a journey of love and hope, and watched her grow. Wow…what a powerful story. I actually lost my oldest sister a little over five years ago, so reading this with my other sisters brought out some sad feelings. Losing a sibling, a friend, is something that goes so deeply and affects you so much. There are moments that are still hard for me and so reading this book resurfaced the toughest time when Inez was slipping away from us and then finally left. Always and Forever has LJ imagining getting married, buying a house and having kids with Peter, but looking on the side of probability Peter won’t likely be her first and last love. And that’s okay. The final movie has the young woman choosing for herself to go to the college of her choice. While Peter is devoted to her now, we don’t completely know what their fates will be. From this perspective, I’d say for what All The Boys is, it’s a satisfying conclusion to Lara Jean’s experience finding love for the first time. As many of us know, life gets a lot more complicated after high school, but that’s not the focus here. What do you think? Vote in our poll below.

I loved the realism of the characters, with their unrealistic ideas: Mel with her impossible workload, and low self-belief, just waiting to implode; Cleo, full of an intelligence and self-confidence that even her own family finds intimidating; and Daisy. Trusting, happy, centred Daisy. I suffered the most with her, especially during her fog-filled week of self-deluded bliss - it was so perfectly depicted. Uma história mesmo muito real, Cathy Kelly consegue emocionar e fazer com que fiquemos a torcer por cada uma destas personagens. Guess what? They can’t. I still know that Lara Jean only ever talks to her family, Peter, and the half-friends she had in the other books. So there.

Tl;dr – Well, that was super amazing. I love how the close friends refer to each other as “family” even though they are from different species. I love how at first, talking about Fox makes their grieving worse. They grieve for months. I love how Squirrel comes in and makes them all laugh by starting them up talking about funny things Fox did in life. Then all the animals find their own way to honor foxes memory and keep it alive in the present. And it works! Fox will live on in their hearts and their thoughts. Peter's disappointment at her decision is palpable. Although initially the evening starts out well, Lara Jean cannot shake a feeling of impending doom. She invites him up to her room afterwards, planning to finally lose her virginity. However, she gives him a box of their mementos before, and he decides to break up with her. Peter wants to save himself from what he sees as the inevitable breakdown of a long-distance relationship. There were even bits about this plotline that I hated. Mostly that it consisted of Peter being a completely unforgivable asshole and being forgiven somehow, and the fact that it kept referring to characters rarely mentioned as Lara Jean’s friends as if friendships could be willed into narrative being. Lara Jean was the perfect eyes to read this series through. I adore Lara Jean. She’s a hopeless romantic, a baking goddess and honestly, a little bit extra. But I really loved that about her. I related to her so much and I really liked how she developed as a character and person throughout this series. She becomes much more mature and confident and outspoken as the series progresses and I really loved watching that change. Her character development was very well written, and I like how we follow her as she accrues knowledge and wisdom from her friends and family and from within herself that she takes into the next book. Her character arc felt continuous, which is great, because I hate when it feels like each books starts the character growth all over again. Then Hare chimes in with a funny story about how terrible a carpenter Fox was, and how he once made a chair that fell apart the first time someone sat in it!
