Lastly, it adds 21 different sound presets that can retune the sound, of which some strangely shift parts of the sound to your left or right earbud. The Treble Booster preset is a welcome addition, however, as it repairs some of the lost upper-mids and treble - regaining some balance in the sound, and making songs more lively. There's some power behind the 11mm drivers, and it shows right out of the box. Much like the design resembles the Liberty Air 2 Pro, I would argue the sound is fairly consistent with it as well. The Air 2 Pro have a clearer sound profile that wards off distortion at higher volumes, whereas the Life P3 rumble just a little more, particularly in the lows and mids.This typically happened when I moved my jaw, while smiling or chewing for instance, and meant I needed to readjust the buds to reestablish an effective in-ear seal. This of course also hampers the earbuds’ ANC ability. Given that noise-cancellation is one of the P3’s strongest suits, it’s frustrating that it’s occasionally negatively impacted by an unstable fit. Anker also developed a Gaming Mode that advertises less latency and enhanced sound effects when mobile gaming. However, there is one caveat: the inform tab states that connection instability may occur. I don’t do much mobile gaming, but from the 30 minutes that I played Mario Kart Tour, the only major connectivity issue I encountered was the startup screen taking longer than expected to load. Those with detailed hearing may find that the drifting and weapon effects sound better than when listening in standard mode. The real annoyance is that you can't turn them off. The battery life is great. But you have to have the charging case with you and put them in and close the lid for it to "turn off" and disconnect from the phone. Maybe not a huge deal, but if you take them off and put them on the side table for a second and then your kid comes in and wants to watch a game on TV with you and next thing you know it is 4 hours later and they are discharged, it is an annoyance. Easy Button Controls: Life P3i earbuds are equipped with easy-to-use tactile buttons to seamlessly control your music and calls. The only thing is you may not find the earbuds the most comfortable to wear if you're a side sleeper. Set a timer and the sounds play for a limited duration to save the battery.

Well, that's a question I still can't quite answer. The specs are a bit better, that's a start. The P20i - also named the Soundcore R50i in India - now has Bluetooth 5.3 and plays up to 10 hours of music on a single charge (!); that's up to two hours more than the previously mentioned earbuds. It also recharges faster: 10 minutes of recharging in the case makes for two hours of extra listening time, instead of the single hour of previous models. If you’re clamouring for more bass, you can toggle on the BassUp feature, which boosts low-end frequencies even further. I didn’t feel the need for it very often but it did successfully add weight and depth to dancier, bass-heavy playlists.

An annoying thing was that I actually had to install the Soundcore app before I could enable the transparency mode. Using the button on the earpiece was only cycling between standard mode and noise canceling mode. I had to install the app to set it up to use the transparency mode. Once it was set up I could then use the button on the earbud to cycle all three modes (standard, noise cancelling, transparency). Then I set up the equalizer the way I wanted and deleted the app. It retained the settings.
