It took about 3 minutes and 10 seconds to thread the lower looper on the Janome. It was very fiddly. Both only come with the standard foot and no waste tray. My 3 Best Buys all came with more accessories.

You can buy an extension table to make your sewing area bigger. This will help you handle the fabric better. Make sure you buy your needles from a trusted manufacturer. For example, Schmetz is a well-known brand for quality.I don’t think the extension table is a necessity. I sew knits without an extension table and haven’t had distortion problems. update: I don’t think the M343D is an old model anymore. I came across a Brother social media post in 2020 (that I can’t seem to refind) that said it was new? I’ll need to look into this more closely.

I timed how long it took 2 people on Youtube to thread the lower loopers of the Brother 4234Dand Janome 8002D. (The videos are by Ken’s Sewing Centerand Syakademiet).Slant needle bar - allows an excellent view of the working area and means the presser foot lifts over bulky hems with ease. Also, a bright LED bulb is fitted which gives off no heat, uses less electricity and gives better lighting. Brother had a good reputation among some of the industry specialists I interviewed. A technician said you can expect a nice machine from Brother.

They said the part of the DVD that should have explained where to place the threads at the end was edited out. And sometimes the presenter’s fingers got in the way. Is the stitch quality good? At 5 – 6 mm high, the 2104D will be able to get even more underneath. What can fit under a 4mm high presser foot? 8 layers of medium to heavy weight denim (each fold is 2 layers). I’m using the Brother 4234d, not 2104d. To demonstrate – the needle on the left is a Schmetz brand needle size 80 and on the right is the department store needle size 70.

All of the adjustable dials are on the right-hand side of the machine now compared with the older models where the dials are on the left, this enables you to adjust without having to move your sewing project out of the way to get to the dials. We are seeing quite a few machines coming in with problems caused by a budget brand of needles being sold at some department stores. Brother has done a better job at designing their threading system than some brands, especially for the budget market.

The 3034DWT is a good choice for sewers who just want the main 3 or 4 thread stitches, easy threading, and don’t want to spend too much.
